StudyTrust states that bursary support can cover capped tuition, residence or private accommodation, subsistence, stationery and books, a personal computer and transport. Awardees must participate in Amazon training opportunities and complete a paid Amazon internship during the summer vacation. To qualify for 100% of bursary funding, recipients must be open to accepting a permanent Amazon position for a duration equal to the years funded if such a role is offered following the internship assessment. Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be South African citizens enrolled at a recognised South African university, have an academic average of at least 65%, and be entering the final year of an eligible undergraduate degree in 2027 with plans to progress to Honours/NQF level 8 in 2028. Eligible study areas include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering and relevant specialisations such as machine learning or artificial intelligence. Master's students are not eligible. Applicants must demonstrate coding ability and be available for the required paid Amazon software-development internship and, if offered following assessment, full-time employment from January 2029.
