MISSION

Full job description

MISSION TAR’s mission is to power intelligence for the world. We are building the world’s first off-grid power plant for data centers powered by renewable technologies. We firmly believe AI should be built in the US for the benefit of all people. For that, power must be fast, clean and scalable. We are singularly focused on delivering GW-scale power faster than anyone has ever done, by rethinking every layer of the stack. We vertically integrate to solve every bottleneck, from racking systems to power electronics to dispatch algorithms to on-site construction. Leave your mark on the future of civilization-scale energy infrastructure. COMPANY TAR is both a hardware and software company, we are building out massive, critical, physical infrastructure. TAR is working directly with one of the largest compute providers to scale and deploy 5GWs by 2028. We operate on…

  • High ownership. High Agency. Own project end-to-end. Great people don’t need to be managed.
  • Speed. We achieve great things on incredible timelines. We push ourselves to go faster.
  • First principles. No ego. No hierarchy. Challenge every assumption.
  • Passion. Solving the energy problem is one of the largest challenges that faces the world now and in the future. About the role Our robots and racking get tested for real at our test site in West Texas. Before anything runs, someone has to build it. That means bolting racking tables together, staging parts, assembling robot subassemblies, and fixing what the field breaks. That’s the job. As part of our assembly line staff, you’ll be one of the first people building TAR’s hardware in West Texas. You'll work in a small crew of assemblers, machinists, and a welder, reporting to our Manufacturing Lead. The work can change as we learn, whether that’s a better install order, a new fixture, or a redesigned part. Your feedback from the floor shapes how we build at gigawatt scale. Much of the work is hands-on and outdoors in West Texas weather. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assemble racking tables, robot subassemblies, and field equipment to drawings, work instructions, and torque specs.
  • Build and test mechanical and electrical subassemblies, including wire harnesses.
  • Install hardware in the field. That includes placing plates, setting rebar, bolting and leveling assemblies, and routing ground and bonding wires under supervision.
  • Use hand and power tools, torque wrenches, crimpers, and measuring tools, and check your own work against spec.
  • Keep tools and equipment calibrated, including torque wrenches and crimpers.
  • Run functional checks on what you build, including setup, testing, and teardown, before it goes to the field.
  • Stage parts and kits so builds never wait, and keep tools, carts, and work areas organized.
  • Run forklifts and other material handling equipment once you’re trained and certified.
  • Flag problems early and log what you find, like parts that don’t fit, steps that don’t work, or anything slow, unsafe, or exhausting. Suggest the fix if you have one.
  • Follow site safety rules and JSAs every time.
  • Help try out new processes and fixtures, and give honest feedback on what works. QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience in assembly, manufacturing, construction, fabrication, or a mechanical trade.
  • Comfort with hand and power tools, following written instructions and basic drawings, and using measurement tools (multimeter, calipers).
  • Attention to detail. You check your torque, count your bolts, and catch mistakes before they leave your station.
  • Soldering experience; fine-pitch and through-hole rework is a plus.
  • Solid troubleshooting ability across electrical and mechanical failures.
  • Read layout drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and parts lists. NICE TO HAVE
  • Solar installation, racking, or electrical experience.
  • Oilfield, pipeline, or heavy equipment experience.
  • Forklift or telehandler certification.
  • IPC J-STD-001 or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification. SALARY AND BENEFITS
  • Up to $15K relocation bonus
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Health, Dental, Vision insurance
  • $1K monthly stipend for meals
