This ADG-level fixed-term appointment is for two years and is renewable. The role leads UNESCO's Sciences Sector, including major programmes in natural, social and human sciences; science, technology and innovation policy; ethics and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence; water, biodiversity, Earth sciences, disaster resilience, inclusion and international scientific cooperation. UNESCO lists an approximate annual starting salary of USD 243,931 plus applicable benefits.
Requirements & qualifications
UNESCO requires an advanced university degree in a science-related discipline and at least 15 years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience from senior leadership or executive positions, including regional or international assignments and experience managing global scientific programmes or institutions. Excellent knowledge and drafting skills in English or French are required. A PhD and knowledge of the second working language or other UNESCO official languages are desirable.
