Interns may support research, document preparation, data collection and analysis, event organization, meetings, stakeholder liaison and technical project work depending on the receiving team. UNESCO states that internships last one to six months. Applications to this vacancy enter a candidate pool that remains valid for six months and do not guarantee placement. The current vacancy closes 31 December 2026 at midnight. UNESCO does not remunerate interns; interns arrange and finance travel and must obtain any required visa and comprehensive health insurance. Limited workplace insurance is provided for risks directly attributable to the internship.

Applicants must be at least 20 years old. Eligible academic profiles include students in the third/final year of a bachelor's degree, students in a second university degree, Master's or PhD programme, or people who completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD no more than 12 months before the Internship Agreement. Technical/vocational applicants must be in the final year or have graduated within 12 months. Excellent written and spoken English or French is required; knowledge of the other language is an asset and may be required for some assignments. Applicants also need strong computer, teamwork and communication skills.
