Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate Director, Product Management - AI Property Underwriting based in the United States. The Associate Director, Product Management will lead the strategy, development, commercialization, and growth of AI-powered property underwriting solutions for the insurance industry. This role focuses on transforming property inspection analytics into scalable products that help insurers assess and price risk more accurately. Combining product leadership, applied artificial intelligence, and commercial accountability, the successful candidate will guide products from launch through broader market adoption and revenue growth. Working closely with machine learning, engineering, legal, privacy, risk, and go-to-market teams, the role ensures solutions are reliable, responsible, and aligned with customer needs. The position also extends across a broader property intelligence portfolio, identifying opportunities where advanced analytics and proprietary data can deliver meaningful business value. This is an opportunity to shape innovative AI products in a collaborative, global environment while influencing the future of insurance underwriting.
Product Strategy and Roadmap: Own the vision, strategy, roadmap, and commercial outcomes for AI-powered property inspection analytics products, driving the transition from initial launch to scaled adoption among insurance carriers. Portfolio Development: Expand product management responsibilities across the broader property underwriting portfolio, identifying opportunities where AI and new data capabilities can deliver value to insurers and strengthen existing analytics offerings. AI Product Development: Collaborate closely with machine learning and platform engineering teams to define product scope, assess model quality, establish evaluation methods, and manage trade-offs. Determine when model outputs are ready for release and ensure appropriate handling of model errors and non-deterministic behavior. Commercialization and Revenue Growth: Partner with pricing and packaging teams to develop commercial models that reflect product value. Manage the commercial funnel from initial evaluations and proof-of-value engagements through paid conversion, with accountability for adoption and revenue targets. Customer Discovery and Carrier Engagement: Lead pilot programs and evaluation relationships with insurance carriers and ecosystem partners. Develop evaluation plans, review results, gather customer feedback, and translate insights into actionable roadmap decisions. Product Launch and Release Management: Coordinate product launches and new capability releases, defining release criteria and ensuring sales enablement, employee training, and customer support readiness. Responsible AI and Governance: Coordinate legal, privacy, risk, and AI governance reviews, ensuring products meet relevant internal requirements before release and supporting responsible AI adoption throughout the product lifecycle. Cross-Functional Leadership: Align engineering, design, commercial, legal, privacy, risk, and go-to-market stakeholders around product priorities, launch plans, and business objectives. Continuous Improvement: Monitor product performance, customer adoption, and commercial outcomes to identify opportunities for refinement, stronger market positioning, and long-term growth. Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience required; an advanced degree in a technical or business discipline is preferred. At least six years of product management experience within a technology, data, or analytics company. Demonstrated success taking new products or major capabilities from early concept through launch and into initial commercial traction, including converting early evaluations into paying customers. Hands-on experience building and launching AI- or machine learning-powered products, ideally involving computer vision or vision-language models. Familiarity with model evaluation, quality trade-offs, and the operational challenges of non-deterministic AI systems. Strong understanding of AI concepts and practical experience using AI tools to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and solve business problems. Awareness of AI risk management and responsible AI principles, with a willingness to deepen expertise in AI governance and responsible adoption in collaboration with machine learning teams. Experience managing products within a large, established portfolio, balancing roadmap priorities across multiple customers, product lines, and stakeholders. Demonstrated commercial accountability, including product launches, pricing and packaging collaboration, customer adoption, and conversion of pilot engagements into revenue-generating relationships. Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, design, legal, privacy, risk, and go-to-market teams. Strong customer discovery and enterprise client-facing skills, including the ability to lead carrier evaluations, present to senior executives, and translate customer feedback into clear product decisions. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic decision-making skills, with the ability to balance technical considerations, customer needs, and commercial objectives. Experience in property and casualty insurance, insurance technology, or property data and analytics is strongly preferred. Benefits: Base salary: $124,600–$222,200 per year for US-based roles, depending on experience, education, skills, level, and location. Incentive compensation: Eligibility for additional incentive compensation. Healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance. Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with opportunities for employee and company contributions. Paid time off: Paid leave and time-off benefits. Parental leave: Support for eligible employees and families. Insurance protection: Life, disability, and accident insurance. Employee stock purchase plan: Access to a discounted employee stock purchase program. Professional development: Tuition reimbursement opportunities. Career growth: Opportunities to work on applied AI products, influence product strategy, and contribute to innovative insurance analytics solutions. Collaborative environment: Work with cross-functional teams focused on responsible AI adoption, customer outcomes, and continuous product innovation.
