AUN-QA TRAINING COURSE FOR ACCOMPLISHING PROGRAMME ASSESSMENT (TIER 1)

GADONG – The Ministry of Education, through the Secretariat of the National Accreditation Council (MKPK), with the support of the Department of Higher Education and the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), successfully organised the AUN-QA Training Course for Accomplishing Programme Assessment (Tier 1) from 12 to 15 October 2026 at The Centrepoint Hotel, Gadong.

The four-day intensive course was attended by 30 participants comprising officers from the Ministry of Education and academic staff from both public and private higher education institutions. All participants successfully completed the training and received their certificates of participation.

The certificate presentation ceremony was officiated by Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education, who graced the event as the Guest of Honour.

Earlier, yang Mulia Haji Mohd Fadzillah bin Haji Abdullah, Executive Secretary of the MKPK Secretariat, in his welcoming remarks, expressed his sincere appreciation to the trainers and participants for their commitment and active engagement throughout the course. He highlighted that the training represents a strategic initiative of the MKPK Secretariat, in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, aimed at strengthening both capacity building and professional development of officers and academic staff in the field of quality assurance. The programme is expected to enhance institutional self-assessment capabilities while fostering a culture of continuous improvement to further advance the quality of higher education in the country.

Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang, the lead trainer, explained that the training provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the quality assurance ecosystem, the AUN-QA framework, assessment criteria, and the PDCA approach for programme-level self-assessment. She further noted that the course offered participants the opportunity to conduct gap analyses of their programmes and improve quality assurance systems to address identified gaps.

Throughout the workshop, participants were introduced to the AUN-Quality Assurance model and trained to identify key elements of the quality assurance ecosystem, understand the AUN-QA framework, and apply programme assessment criteria in a systematic manner.

The training was conducted by three AUN-QA experts: Associate Professor Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang, Professor Dr. Clarita D. Carillo, and Dr. Sharul Tarajiman bin Haji Tajuddin.

GADONG – Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Urus Setia Majlis Kebangsaan Pengiktirafan Kelulusan (MKPK), dengan kerjasama Jabatan Pengajian Tinggi dan ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), telah menganjurkan AUN-QA Training Course for Accomplishing Programme Assessment (Tier 1) pada 12 hingga 15 Oktober 2026 di The Centrepoint Hotel, Gadong.

Kursus intensif selama empat hari ini disertai oleh seramai 30 peserta yang terdiri daripada pegawai-pegawai Kementerian Pendidikan serta tenaga akademik dari institusi pengajian tinggi awam dan swasta. Kesemua peserta berjaya menamatkan latihan dan menerima sijil masing-masing.

Majlis penyampaian sijil telah disempurnakan oleh Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Setiausaha Tetap (Pengajian Tinggi), Kementerian Pendidikan, yang hadir selaku tetamu kehormat majlis.

Terdahulu, Yang Mulia Haji Mohd Fadzillah bin Haji Abdullah, Setiausaha Kerja Urus Setia MKPK dalam ucapan alu-aluan beliau menzahirkan penghargaan kepada para jurulatih dan peserta atas komitmen serta penglibatan mereka sepanjang kursus. Beliau menekankan bahawa penganjuran latihan ini merupakan salah satu inisiatif strategik Urus Setia MKPK bersama Jabatan Pengajian Tinggi dalam usaha memperkukuh pembangunan kapasiti pegawai dan tenaga akademik dalam bidang jaminan kualiti. Latihan ini diharap dapat meningkatkan keupayaan penilaian dalaman institusi, di samping menyemai budaya penambahbaikan berterusan bagi memperkukuh mutu pengajian tinggi di negara ini.

Sementara itu,Yang Mulia Profesor Madya Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang selaku lead trainer menjelaskan bahawa kursus ini memberi pendedahan menyeluruh mengenai ekosistem jaminan kualiti, rangka kerja AUN-QA, kriteria penilaian, serta pendekatan PDCA bagi penilaian kendiri di peringkat program. Beliau turut menambah bahawa latihan ini memberi peluang kepada peserta untuk menjalankan analisis jurang program dan memperbaiki sistem jaminan kualiti bagi menutup jurang yang dikenal pasti.

Sepanjang bengkel, peserta didedahkan kepada model AUN-Quality Assurance dan dilatih mengenal pasti elemen penting ekosistem jaminan kualiti, memahami rangka kerja AUN-QA, serta mengaplikasikan kriteria penilaian program secara sistematik.

Latihan ini dikendalikan oleh tiga pakar AUN-QA iaitu Yang Mulia Profesor Madya Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang, Profesor Dr. Clarita D. Carillo, dan Dr. Sharul Tarajiman bin Haji Tajuddin.
