Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a BIM Specialist – Structured Cable (Data Center) based in the United States. Join a collaborative design and engineering environment supporting the development of advanced data center infrastructure. As a BIM Specialist, you will create detailed 2D and 3D models for structured cabling and other low-voltage technology systems, helping ensure accuracy and coordination throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to resolve design conflicts and translate project requirements into high-quality construction documentation. Using industry-standard tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam Revu, you will contribute to projects from initial design through construction. You will also help improve BIM standards, workflows, and modeling practices while producing visualizations and supporting project takeoffs. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, managing multiple projects, and contributing to reliable, well-coordinated data center systems.
As a BIM Specialist, you will develop and maintain accurate digital models and construction drawings for structured cabling and related low-voltage technologies. You will support multidisciplinary coordination, improve design processes, and help ensure that project deliverables meet technical requirements, quality standards, and deadlines. Develop detailed 2D and 3D BIM models and construction drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Navisworks, and Bluebeam Revu. Design and model structured cabling systems, security systems, audiovisual systems, distributed antenna systems (DAS), outside plant infrastructure, and other low-voltage technologies. Participate in BIM coordination meetings with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to identify and resolve clashes, address design conflicts, and maintain model accuracy. Interpret BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), design intent documents, and project specifications to ensure that models and drawings align with project requirements. Support the Design Director and VDC Manager in developing and maintaining BIM standards, templates, libraries, and workflows. Recommend improvements to BIM software, hardware, training, and design processes to enhance efficiency and quality. Produce 3D renderings and visualizations for customer proposals, including conference rooms, data centers, and intermediate distribution frame (IDF) and main distribution frame (MDF) spaces. Perform electronic quantity takeoffs using Autodesk products and Bluebeam Revu. Provide both BIM modeling and traditional 2D CAD drafting support according to project needs. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing deliverables and maintaining accuracy while meeting deadlines. Stay current with BIM software developments, low-voltage technologies, and relevant industry best practices. Collaborate with colleagues across project teams and provide guidance and support to junior designers when appropriate. Requirements: You are a technically skilled and organized design professional with experience in BIM modeling, drafting, or low-voltage systems. You can translate technical requirements into precise construction documentation, communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment. 3–5+ years of BIM, drafting, or design experience in one or more of the following areas: low-voltage systems, structured cabling, security systems, information technology, instrumentation and controls, or electronics. Associate degree or technical education in electronics, information technology, engineering technology, or a related field. Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of IP networking, low-voltage electronics, and power and communications systems. Ability to produce accurate, well-organized, visually clear construction drawings and detailed 2D and 3D models. Familiarity with BIM coordination processes and the ability to interpret project requirements, design documentation, and BIM Execution Plans. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Ability to prioritize multiple projects, manage deadlines, and maintain high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivation, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new technologies and adopt industry best practices. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with access control systems. Familiarity with IP or analog CCTV and intrusion detection systems. Experience with client-server security platforms. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL, servers, and storage arrays. Proficiency with Microsoft Visio. Construction field experience. Experience using BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). Benefits: The source job description does not specify salary, healthcare coverage, paid time off, retirement plans, or other employee benefits. Opportunity to contribute to multiple data center projects involving structured cabling and advanced low-voltage technologies. Collaborative work with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams. Opportunities to strengthen BIM expertise, expand technical knowledge, and contribute to improved design standards and workflows. Opportunities to share technical knowledge and support the development of junior designers.
