Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a BIM/VDC Data and Implementation Specialist based in the United States. Join a growing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contracting team delivering large-scale commercial construction projects across Florida. As a BIM/VDC Data and Implementation Specialist, you will play a key role in optimizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) data, improving digital workflows, and connecting virtual design processes with field operations. You will manage Revit families, database files, project templates, and construction data deliverables to ensure consistency, accuracy, and accessibility across teams. Working closely with Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), IT, project management, and field operations, you will help implement technology-driven solutions that improve project efficiency. You will also contribute to software adoption, reporting automation, and standardized best practices across multiple regions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, enabling collaboration, and driving continuous improvement in construction technology.
As BIM/VDC Data and Implementation Specialist, you will oversee BIM data management, standardization, project setup, and technology implementation to ensure construction teams have reliable information and effective digital tools throughout the project lifecycle. BIM Data Management: Maintain and optimize BIM data repositories, including database ITM files, Revit families, and project files, ensuring information remains accurate, organized, searchable, and accessible. Establish and enforce data management standards, conduct regular database audits, update product information, and synchronize changes across VDC teams. Maintain a centralized log of requests for ITM files, Revit families, templates, and deliverable modifications. Coordinate regular meetings with department managers, project managers, power users, and end users to gather feedback and identify improvement opportunities. Collaborate with IT to troubleshoot BIM data systems and software issues, assess new releases of Revit, Evolve, MSuite, and other VDC applications, and advise leadership on compatibility and deployment. Revit Project Setup: Configure Revit projects across all regions, ensuring the appropriate services, families, templates, and supporting files are integrated according to project requirements. Develop and maintain standardized project setup templates, review configurations for improvement opportunities, and provide training and guidance to project teams on effective Revit setup and management. Work with VDC project managers and stakeholders to implement best practices for project deliverables, external file sharing, subcontractor coordination, 3D laser scanning, Trimble exports, Assemble exports, Trimble Connect AR, and related technologies. Coordinate software license transfers and project access assignments, identifying licensing requirements and communicating potential needs to BIM/VDC and IT leadership. Revit Family Standardization: Develop and maintain Revit family standards and guidelines, review existing families for quality and consistency, and update or create families to meet evolving project needs. Maintain a standardized, accessible Revit family library and train project teams on the correct use and management of these resources. Scheduling and Reporting: Collaborate with VDC trade teams to improve schedules, reports, and data transfer processes between design, field, and operations teams. Use BIM data to develop accurate project schedules and customized reports covering project progress, resource allocation, and potential risks. Implement and maintain automated reporting workflows that provide field and operational teams with timely, reliable project information. Regularly evaluate scheduling and reporting processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and usability. Trimble and Scanner Data Management: Coordinate the distribution of Trimble points to field teams and manage incoming scanner data and as-built points for VDC applications. Support field data collection during site visits and project setup, and help establish standards for collecting, processing, and integrating survey and scanner data into BIM models. Train and support field personnel in using Trimble points and scanner data for construction layout, verification, and coordination. Collaborate with software vendors to evaluate new tools and improve data management capabilities. Technology Implementation and Support: Partner with VDC managers and operations teams to improve the use of existing software for BIM data visualization, analysis, and enhancement. Explore new methods for manipulating and leveraging BIM data, supporting the adoption of technologies that meet current and future operational needs. Develop and deliver training programs to help VDC teams adopt new software, tools, and workflows. Monitor industry developments and recommend new software, add-ins, and technologies that can improve productivity and construction outcomes. Requirements: The ideal candidate combines advanced BIM and Revit expertise with strong data management capabilities, technical problem-solving skills, and a practical understanding of construction workflows. You should be comfortable collaborating across departments, managing detailed technical information, and adapting digital tools to meet changing project requirements. Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience with Revit and database systems may also be considered. At least 5 years of experience working with Autodesk Revit and database parameters. Strong proficiency in BIM software, including Autodesk Revit and Trimble applications. Advanced understanding of Revit parameters, data deliverables, Python, and Autodesk Cloud. Familiarity with data management practices, database organization, and ITM file structures. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database planning. Strong computer-based troubleshooting and interpersonal problem-solving skills, with a solution-oriented approach to complex technical challenges. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to consider requirements across multiple departments when developing and implementing solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, VDC specialists, IT professionals, field teams, and other stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing demands, and adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of construction methods, project management processes, and field operations is an advantage. Valid Florida driver's license. Commitment to workplace safety, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with applicable OSHA standards and company policies. Ability to perform physical tasks involving lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds frequently. Willingness to use the tools required for the role, with the specific tool list provided during the hiring or onboarding process. Benefits: Employer-paid health insurance to support employee well-being. Paid time off: Accrued vacation and sick leave. Wellness reimbursement program to support personal health and well-being. Employee ownership: Participation in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), providing an opportunity to share in the organization's long-term success. Retirement savings: Access to a 401(k) plan with company matching and post-tax Roth IRA options. Professional development: Access to NCCER-certified in-house and online training programs designed to strengthen technical skills and support career advancement. Established organization: Opportunity to contribute to a large, growing team with a longstanding presence in the mechanical contracting industry. Collaborative work environment: Join a team that emphasizes employee development, safety, continuous improvement, and high-quality project delivery.
