Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Carbon Services, Embodied Carbon Analyst based in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to help organizations measure and reduce the embodied carbon impacts of buildings and real estate portfolios. You’ll work across new construction and tenant improvement projects, applying life cycle assessment methodologies to translate complex environmental data into actionable recommendations. The role combines technical analysis, sustainability consulting, client engagement, and research. You’ll collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams while supporting innovative low-carbon design and construction strategies. Your work will contribute to meaningful decarbonization initiatives and sustainability certifications across North America. The position is well suited to someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, curious, and motivated by measurable climate impact.
Quantify embodied carbon and broader environmental impacts for new development and tenant improvement projects, ranging from individual buildings to global portfolios. Perform whole-building Life Cycle Assessments (wbLCA), using project data to identify opportunities to reduce life-cycle impacts and align designs with relevant sustainability certification frameworks. Review LCA calculations and results prepared by colleagues, identifying errors, validating assumptions, and helping ensure the accuracy and quality of final outputs. Collect, organize, track, and analyze environmental data covering areas such as energy use, waste, construction materials, transportation, and other relevant impact categories. Develop clear reports, presentations, visualizations, and recommendations that communicate environmental performance and improvement opportunities to technical and non-technical audiences. Manage assigned work independently, balancing priorities and delivering agreed outcomes within project timelines and budgets. Participate in client meetings, including project kickoffs, data requests, and final-results presentations, with appropriate support from project managers. Research emerging sustainable design practices, low-carbon materials, construction approaches, operational strategies, technologies, policies, and industry standards. Stay current on developments in embodied carbon, LCA methodologies, certification systems, and climate-related regulations through workshops, webinars, and ongoing professional development. Requirements Passion for sustainability, climate action, decarbonization, and creating measurable environmental impact. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, structural engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. At least one year of full-time, hands-on experience applying LCA methodologies within the real estate or built-environment sector. Intermediate proficiency with OneClick LCA, along with experience using tools such as EC3 and/or TallyCAT. Intermediate proficiency with Autodesk Revit and BIM 360 for material takeoffs and project data extraction. Strong Microsoft Excel and broader Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret large datasets. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with exceptional attention to detail and an ability to investigate data, classify results, and identify trends. Experience developing embodied carbon calculations that incorporate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) equipment is preferred. Experience documenting LCA work for LEED, ILFI, CAGBC Zero Carbon Building, or similar certification programs is preferred. LEED Accredited Professional certification is an advantage. Experience conducting whole-building LCA for data centers is preferred. Working knowledge of corporate greenhouse gas accounting and target-setting frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, SBTi, and WGBC Net Zero, as well as carbon offsets, is preferred. Previous consulting experience in an established organization, with exposure to collaborative project delivery, quality standards, and cross-project coordination, is preferred. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical sustainability concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders. Benefits Compensation: $72,000–$85,000 CAD annually for Canadian locations, depending on market location and experience.
