Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Charge Entry Specialist based in Canada. Join a healthcare operations team dedicated to improving billing accuracy and revenue cycle performance through efficient, technology-enabled processes. As a Charge Entry Specialist, you will ensure that patient demographics, insurance details, and clinical charges are entered accurately and on time. Your work will play a key role in supporting clean claim submissions, minimizing billing errors, and maintaining smooth healthcare financial operations. You will review clinical documentation, validate billing information, and resolve discrepancies before claims are generated. Working closely with billing, coding, and clinical teams, you will help maintain data integrity and operational efficiency. This remote opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented healthcare professional who takes ownership of their work and consistently delivers accurate, timely results.

As a Charge Entry Specialist, you will manage daily charge entry activities, verify billing documentation, and help ensure that healthcare claims are prepared accurately and efficiently. Enter clinical charges, patient demographic information, and insurance details into Practice Management (PM) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with speed and accuracy. Review medical encounter documentation, superbills, and charge tickets to confirm completeness, accuracy, and correct application of fee schedules. Verify insurance eligibility, coverage benefits, authorizations, and patient financial responsibility when required. Identify missing documentation, modifiers, and coding inconsistencies, escalating discrepancies for clarification and resolution. Conduct daily charge audits and reconcile charge batches against provider schedules and supporting logs. Correct pre-billing edits and resolve clearinghouse rejections before claim generation. Coordinate with billing, coding, and clinical teams to address billing questions, missing information, and charge entry delays. Maintain accurate records and follow established workflows to meet daily productivity, volume, and turnaround time expectations. Protect sensitive patient information and comply with HIPAA requirements and applicable organizational policies. Manage assigned work queues independently, proactively organizing tasks and maintaining consistent quality with minimal supervision. Requirements: The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in medical charge entry, healthcare billing, or revenue cycle management, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Candidates should demonstrate accuracy, accountability, and a solid understanding of medical billing processes. At least 1–2 years of experience in medical charge entry, medical billing, or revenue cycle operations within a healthcare environment. Experience handling charge entry for general outpatient specialties, such as primary care, psychiatry, gastroenterology, dermatology, or similar practices. Practical experience with Practice Management and EHR systems, such as Tebra, SimplePractice, Practice Fusion, athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Excellent numeric and alphanumeric data entry skills, with a strong focus on accuracy and minimal error rates. Familiarity with medical terminology, charge capture principles, and healthcare billing workflows. Ability to review clinical documentation carefully and identify missing information or inconsistencies before billing. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage daily workloads while meeting productivity and turnaround time targets. A high level of accountability, initiative, and independence when managing assigned tasks and work queues. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with billing, coding, and clinical teams. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and following healthcare privacy and compliance standards. Willingness to complete an initial 90-day probationary period and demonstrate the required productivity, accuracy, and reliability. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in an outsourced Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) environment or a multispecialty billing organization. Familiarity with CPT codes, ICD-10 coding, and modifier usage guidelines. Experience performing charge audits, resolving billing edits, and reconciling charge batches. A proactive, client-focused approach to communication, teamwork, and workload management. Benefits: Fully remote work arrangement. Regular employment opportunity. Opportunity to contribute to healthcare billing accuracy and revenue cycle efficiency. Experience working with established healthcare technologies and billing workflows.
