Full job description
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER Level: Executive Location: Remote | Canada or USA (Travel to our Ottawa HQ and Toronto Hub Required) Reports To: Michael Matta, Chief Executive Officer https://www.linkedin.com/in/mattamichael/ Type: Permanent | Full-Time ABOUT SOLINK At Solink, our mission is to safeguard what matters most. We provide businesses with the tools to know sooner and act faster by transforming video security into real-time operational insights. Our cloud-based platform integrates seamlessly with your existing cameras and systems, turning them into intelligent sensors that detect and interpret key moments. This empowers teams to make data-driven decisions, enhance security, and improve operational efficiency. Trusted by over 30,000 locations across 32+ countries - including brands like McDonald’s and JYSK - Solink delivers clarity when it counts. Our solutions help businesses reduce shrink, optimize performance, and respond proactively to potential threats. We're growing rapidly, earning industry recognition, and scaling with purpose. We’ve been recognized by Deloitte’s Fast 50™ and Fast 500™, Business Intelligence Group, and as one of Ottawa’s Best Places to Work. And we’re just getting started! THE ROLE Solink is at an inflection point in our growth journey. As Chief Financial Officer, you'll lead our financial strategy as we continue to scale and prepare the company for its next chapter of growth. This is a critical leadership role, shaping both the day-to-day financial operations and the long-term strategic direction of the company. You'll bring a strong operational and strategic background, proven success scaling technology businesses, and the judgment to know when to zoom in on the details and when to zoom out to see the bigger picture. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the Finance Team: Oversee and develop the leaders of Solink’s FP&A and Accounting functions. Set clear priorities, strengthen collaboration between the teams, and hold them accountable for accurate, timely work and useful business insights.
- Get Close to the Work: Understand how financial work gets done today, identify where processes break down, and work alongside the team to fix them. Bring the judgment and willingness to dig into details that a growing business needs.
- Improve Processes and Systems: Simplify and document core finance processes, improve data quality, and introduce automation where it reduces manual work and errors. Build a function that can scale without relying on workarounds or individual heroics.
- Strengthen Planning and Decision-Making: Guide the established FP&A function in delivering reliable budgets, forecasts, financial models, and analysis. Partner with leaders across Solink to turn that work into clear decisions and accountability for results.
- Build Trust in Financial Reporting: Lead the Accounting function through a strong close, audit, and reporting cadence. Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable GAAP/IFRS requirements while giving leaders confidence in the numbers.
- Support Capital Strategy and Investor Relationships: Partner with the CEO and Board on financial strategy, capital needs, financing opportunities, and investor communications. Ensure Solink has the financial discipline and information needed to evaluate future opportunities.
- Evaluate Strategic Opportunities: Assess potential acquisitions and partnerships, including due diligence, financial modelling, and the practical work required to integrate them successfully. ROLE EXPECTATIONS This is an E3 level role. At Solink, individuals at this level own company-wide outcomes, set the strategy for their function, and operate with broad autonomy in partnership with the CEO, the executive team, and the Board. In this role, you'll be expected to:
- Act as a full strategic partner to the CEO and the Board, not only as a steward of the numbers.
- Build and develop a finance organization that scales ahead of the business, hiring and coaching leaders who raise the bar.
- Bring financial discipline to company-wide decisions on pricing, investment, headcount, and market expansion.
- Own the accuracy and credibility of forecasting, reporting, and board materials.
- Prepare the company for its next financing or strategic event well before it is needed. What success looks like:
- Forecasting and planning the executive team and Board trust and act on.
- The systems, controls, and team in place to operate credibly at $200M+ in revenue.
- Solink positioned and diligence-ready for its next strategic chapter. WHAT YOU BRING Must-Have:
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with prior scale-up CFO experience.
- Proven track record scaling SaaS or technology companies from ~$50M to $200M+ revenue, with experience navigating different exit paths.
- Deep FP&A expertise with strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
- Direct experience with late-stage fundraising (Series C/D/E) or public markets experience.
- Strong command of SaaS metrics and recurring revenue models.
- Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, compliance frameworks, and audit oversight.
- Inspirational leader with the ability to develop high-performing finance teams. Nice-to-Have:
- M&A experience across due diligence, valuation, and post-close integration.
- Experience in a Canadian company with US and international operations, including multi-currency and cross-border tax considerations. SECURITY REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates must undergo a criminal records check upon hire;
- Be a Canadian or American Citizen, or eligible to work in Canada or the United States.
- Be willing to comply with Solink’s own security policies and standards. OUR VALUES We do things the Solink way:
- Act with URGENCY – Our customers move fast, so we do too.
- Deliver with QUALITY – We sweat the details and hold a high bar.
- Win with TEAM – No egos. Just outcomes, built together.
- Lead with TRUST – We earn it through clarity, consistency, and care. These aren’t just words—they shape how we hire, lead, and grow. WHY SOLINK? We’re not just building tech - we’re building a place where great people do great work.

- Meaningful equity: Every full-time, permanent employee has a stake in our growth.
- Comprehensive benefits: A stellar benefits package, ensuring you're fully supported with anything you need.
- Wellness support: Monthly reimbursement for fitness, wellness, or mental health programs.
