We have an immediate opening for a Fleet Remediation Engineering Manager in the Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) Region, supporting Amazon's government customers.

As a Fleet Remediation Engineering Manager, you will be leading projects to fit out our data centers to meet ever-evolving customer needs as we continue expanding our fleet to hyper-scale. As an ideal candidate you:

  • Possess Strong Engineering Judgement and are able to provide recommendations despite uncertainty
  • Are detail and data oriented
  • Have experience managing engineering projects and consultants.
  • Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Commissioning, Construction and Design)
  • Open to travel 25% of the time

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. Upon application you will be asked qualifying questions that will be used only in relation to the US Government Security Clearance required for this role.

Key job responsibilities As an Amazon Fleet Remediation Engineering Manager, you will manage a team that provides full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from project design inception through site improvement. You will be the ‘go to’ engineering resource for your region to design projects that remediate issues found within our data center fleet. You will use your leadership expertise to:

  • Hire employees that demonstrate Amazon Leadership Principles.
  • Manage team and individual performance, including promotions.
  • Establish, create, and/or streamline metrics.
  • Establish engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices. Share best practices with peers to drive efficiencies in repeatable work.
  • Make trade-offs on competing business needs using high judgement.
  • Influence strategic direction of the team.
  • Identify areas of growth for the team.
  • Work directly with partner teams to implement new and improve upon existing processes and procedures.
  • Drive communication of technical strategy with limited guidance within their assigned region.
  • Manage up to 10 team members with varying levels of technical experience.
  • Identify complexity and risks to unblock engineers and partner teams.
  • Drive team timeliness, quality, operational stability and success meeting customer requirements/business objectives. Able to identify where to simplify, optimize, and reduce overhead.
  • Use judgement to find a path forward in difficult situations. Manage escalations.
  • Provide clear, concise, and accurate communication (both verbal and written), and to determine what levels that communication routinely occurs.
  • Drive engineering processes to improve operational excellence with customer interaction, development methodology, working with other teams.

A day in the life Each day you will interact with different ADC teams responsible for all aspects of the government data centers. You will prioritize your activities to support data center remediation safety, design, capacity, and availability, focusing on the actions that are most impactful. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial or commercial engineering or project management in Mission Critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation, or oil/gas facilities
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent, or 6+ years of professional or military experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer License
  • 4+ years of military experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
