ABOUT THE ROLE An early-stage smart home and IoT company is seeking a hands-on Co-Founding CTO to lead its technical vision and product development. You will shape the architecture across connected devices, cloud systems, and AI/ML, while building the engineering team and helping bring smart building and energy management products to market. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own and evolve the technical architecture across IoT, embedded systems, cloud, and AI/ML.
- Build and grow the engineering team through hiring, mentoring, and technical leadership.
- Guide the product roadmap, balancing technical innovation with practical execution.
- Write production code and work alongside the team to solve critical technical problems.
- Communicate the technical vision to investors, partners, and other stakeholders. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 10 years of software engineering or technical leadership experience, including 3 or more years in senior technical leadership.
- Experience as a startup co-founder or early-stage CTO, with a track record of building products from zero to one.
- Strong IoT and embedded systems experience, including hands-on work shipping connected products.
- Hardware and software crossover experience, including integration across embedded and software systems.
- Cloud architecture experience designing and deploying scalable systems; AWS experience is preferred.
- AI/ML product experience with real-world or production applications.
- Experience building an engineering team and remaining active in hands-on coding.
- Familiarity with smart home, building technology, or energy management is valuable; German or Spanish language skills are also valued.
- Relevant technologies include React, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Raspberry Pi, and ThingsBoard. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary is €60,000 to €100,000 annually. Co-founding equity of up to 5% is available through an earn-in structure. Visa sponsorship is not available. LOCATION This is an on-site role based in Munich, Germany.
