Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Commercial Sales Account Manager based in the United States. We are seeking a customer-focused Commercial Sales Account Manager to drive revenue growth and develop strategic business relationships across Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. In this field-based role, you will promote commercial HVAC products and solutions while providing technical expertise, application engineering, and design support. You will work closely with engineers, contractors, architects, developers, builders, utilities, and end users to deliver solutions tailored to their project requirements. Your responsibilities will span territory development, equipment selection, estimating, proposal generation, and contract negotiations. With a strong emphasis on design-build and retrofit projects, you will help customers adopt innovative, energy-efficient technologies while expanding existing accounts and winning new business. This opportunity is ideal for a technically minded sales professional who thrives on customer engagement, enjoys working independently in the field, and is committed to delivering outstanding service.

As a Commercial Sales Account Manager, you will manage commercial HVAC sales activities across an assigned territory, combining business development with technical consultation and project support. You will build lasting customer relationships, identify new opportunities, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure customers receive timely, effective solutions. Develop and execute territory business plans to acquire new customers, expand existing accounts, and achieve commercial sales growth. Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, developers, builders, utilities, and end users through face-to-face consultations, regular facility visits, and ongoing communication. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, providing responsive customer service, technical assistance, and application support. Drive value-added commercial HVAC sales, particularly within design-build and retrofit markets. Perform job take-offs, blueprint reviews, equipment selection, estimating, and application engineering to support customer projects. Prepare technical proposals, quotations, submittals, and other sales documentation tailored to customer and project requirements. Deliver product demonstrations, presentations, conference calls, and lunch-and-learn sessions to educate customers and promote relevant equipment and technologies. Conduct job-site visits and provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical product support as needed. Recommend sustainable products and modern HVAC technologies that meet customer requirements and improve application performance. Research local market conditions, construction activity, industry trends, competitor offerings, and pricing strategies to identify opportunities and maintain a competitive position. Identify and develop new business opportunities within key vertical markets and the assigned geographic territory. Maintain accurate sales pipeline records and account information using CRM platforms such as Salesforce. Coordinate with inside sales, logistics, and other internal teams to support order fulfillment, product availability, and timely delivery. Prioritize quick response times, dependable follow-through, and a customer-first approach while contributing to team success. Travel regularly throughout Chicagoland, Northwest Indiana, and surrounding areas to meet customers, visit job sites, and develop business opportunities. Requirements: The ideal candidate will bring a combination of sales experience, technical aptitude, and customer relationship management skills. You should be comfortable interpreting project documentation, selecting appropriate equipment, communicating technical information, and managing multiple customer needs in a dynamic field-based environment. Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 3 years of experience in sales, blueprint reading, and equipment selection. Ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into appropriate commercial HVAC products and solutions. Strong customer relationship management, business development, and account growth skills. Ability to conduct job take-offs, prepare estimates, develop proposals, and support technical product selection. Strong interpersonal skills, sound decision-making, and a professional approach to customer interactions. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to diverse audiences. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate sales records, and respond quickly to customer requests. Proficiency in a Windows-based environment, including email and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work collaboratively with customers and internal teams while taking ownership of territory performance and customer satisfaction. Willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, with approximately 50%–70% of working time spent traveling. Commitment to excellent customer service, teamwork, and continuous professional development. Benefits: Competitive compensation package. Premium health insurance coverage. 401(k) retirement plan with generous employer matching. Resources for financial planning and goal setting. Ample paid time off. Parental leave. Life insurance and disability protection. Opportunity to work with commercial HVAC products, innovative technologies, and sustainable solutions. Field-based role offering regular engagement with customers and industry professionals across the territory.
