Overview
Mauritius is an eligible country for the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships for 2027/28, supporting full-time taught one-year Master’s study in the United Kingdom for candidates who could not otherwise afford to study there.
Complete scholarship details
The 2027/28 agency-nominated Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship round is open for study beginning in September or October 2027. Applicants submit through CSC Central and must also apply to an eligible nominator; the CSC does not accept direct applications and nominators may impose earlier local deadlines. The scholarship covers approved tuition fees, approved return airfare, a living stipend at the current rate of £1,712 per month or £2,000 per month for London, and a study travel grant. Eligible single parents may qualify for published child allowances, and disability-related support is assessed separately.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be citizens of, or hold qualifying refugee/British Protected Person status connected to, an eligible Commonwealth country and be permanently resident in an eligible country; Mauritius is explicitly listed. Applicants must be available to start UK study in September 2027, normally hold at least a 2:1 first degree or a 2:2 plus a relevant postgraduate qualification by September 2027, be unable to afford UK study without the scholarship, and submit all required documentation. The CSC generally does not fund a second Master’s and requires scholars to return home after the award.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Verified against the live CSC 2027/28 Master’s Scholarship page. The page lists Mauritius as eligible, states the CSC deadline as 16:00 BST on 20 October, requires CSC Central plus a separate nominator, and publishes the current financial package. 16:00 BST is normalized to 15:00 UTC. Local nominators may set earlier deadlines, which are not inferred here.
