The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission lists Mozambique among the eligible least-developed-country and vulnerable-state applicants for the 2027/28 PhD programme. The award covers approved tuition fees and approved return airfare, with a living stipend of £1,712 per month or £2,000 per month at universities in the London metropolitan area at current rates. It also provides study-travel support, qualifying overseas fieldwork support and other conditional allowances under programme rules. Standard tenure is 36 months of full-time doctoral study.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be citizens of, or hold qualifying refugee status in, an eligible Commonwealth country and be permanently resident in an eligible country. They must be available to begin UK study in September 2027, normally hold at least a 2:1 first degree or a lower second-class degree plus a relevant postgraduate qualification, not already be registered for a PhD or an MPhil leading to a PhD before September/October 2026, be unable to afford UK study without the scholarship, and provide the required documentation. Applicants use CSC Central and must also apply through an eligible nominator.
