Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Contract Recruiter based in Canada. Join a fast-growing healthcare technology organization working to make healthcare innovation more accessible and improve patient outcomes. As a Contract Recruiter, you will partner directly with leadership to drive full-cycle hiring across the United States and Canada. You will own recruitment initiatives from initial role intake and talent sourcing through interviews, offer negotiations, and successful placements. Beyond filling open positions, you will help strengthen hiring practices, coach hiring managers, and build scalable recruitment processes that support business growth. This hands-on role offers significant autonomy in a fast-paced, mission-driven startup environment. The initial six-month contract may also provide an opportunity to extend the engagement or transition into a full-time Talent Partner position, depending on performance and business needs.

Manage full-cycle recruitment: Own the complete hiring process across multiple functions, from role intake and sourcing to candidate screening, interview management, offer negotiation, and closing. Build strong talent pipelines: Develop and maintain a qualified candidate pipeline across the United States and Canada to meet current hiring priorities and future workforce needs. Lead sourcing and outreach: Identify prospective candidates, conduct targeted outreach, manage job postings, and implement screening strategies to attract and engage suitable talent. Partner with leadership and hiring managers: Collaborate closely with company leadership to understand hiring needs, define role requirements, prioritize searches, and deliver recruitment outcomes. Improve interview quality: Train and coach hiring managers, align interviewers on evaluation criteria, strengthen interview practices, and maintain high standards throughout candidate assessment. Maintain accurate recruitment records: Keep the talent database organized and up to date, tracking candidate qualifications, availability, and relevant recruitment information. Monitor recruitment performance: Provide weekly updates on pipeline health, time-to-fill, hiring progress, and performance against recruitment goals. Optimize hiring processes: Identify opportunities to improve sourcing, screening, interviewing, and recruitment operations, implementing practical solutions that increase efficiency and quality. Deliver results quickly: Adapt to changing priorities, learn the business rapidly, and independently manage recruitment activities in a high-growth environment. Support long-term talent strategy: Help establish consistent, scalable hiring practices that support organizational expansion and strengthen the overall candidate experience. Requirements: Recruitment experience: Two to seven years of experience in talent acquisition, recruitment, human resources, or a related field, with a demonstrated ability to fill challenging roles. Full-cycle recruiting expertise: Proven experience independently managing searches from intake and sourcing through screening, interview design, offer negotiation, and successful close. This role requires hands-on recruitment ownership rather than coordination or top-of-funnel sourcing alone. North American hiring knowledge: Experience recruiting in the United States and/or Canada, with an understanding of regional talent markets, compensation expectations, and candidate preferences. Ability to ramp up quickly: Confidence joining a new organization, learning its business and culture, and delivering measurable results within the first few weeks of a contract. Excellent communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to engage candidates effectively, advise hiring managers, and manage sensitive recruitment conversations. Operational excellence: High productivity, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple searches without compromising quality. Strong judgment and ownership: Ability to prioritize effectively, solve problems independently, manage ambiguity, and take responsibility for recruitment outcomes. Process improvement mindset: Experience identifying inefficiencies and developing creative, structured approaches to improve recruitment workflows and hiring operations. Adaptability in a startup environment: Comfort working in a fast-paced organization with evolving priorities, high autonomy, and a strong focus on execution. Interest in healthcare innovation: Motivation to contribute to an organization working to improve healthcare delivery, accessibility, and patient outcomes. Commitment to the engagement: Willingness to dedicate full-time professional focus to this contract role. Experience recruiting within healthcare or another regulated industry is an advantage. Benefits: Competitive compensation: A highly competitive salary is offered, although the exact compensation range is not specified in the job description. Initial contract duration: Six-month contract, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time Talent Partner position based on performance, fit, and business needs. Fully remote work: Work remotely with flexibility in how you organize your working environment. Full-time schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, with core availability during Eastern business hours. Direct leadership partnership: Work closely with company leadership and influence hiring decisions, recruitment strategy, and internal processes. Meaningful mission: Contribute to healthcare innovation by helping build the team behind solutions designed to improve patient care and affordability. Autonomy and ownership: Take responsibility for full-cycle recruiting and make a tangible impact on hiring outcomes in a fast-growing organization. Professional growth: Opportunity to strengthen strategic talent acquisition skills and potentially transition into a permanent Talent Partner role.
