This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Corporate Controller based in the United States. The Corporate Controller leads accounting operations and oversees the delivery of accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting across a complex organization with international operations. This executive-level role is responsible for financial close processes, accounting policies, internal controls, and compliance with applicable accounting standards. Working closely with senior leadership, the Corporate Controller provides strategic guidance on financial reporting, accounting practices, and risk management. The role also drives financial systems improvements, strengthens reporting processes, and coordinates external audits and tax compliance activities. In addition to providing technical accounting leadership, this professional develops and mentors accounting teams while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. This is a full-time remote opportunity for an experienced finance leader who combines strong analytical expertise with a commitment to operational excellence.
Lead Accounting Operations: Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial information for internal and external reporting. Establish Accounting Policies and Controls: Develop, document, implement, and enforce financial policies and internal controls that safeguard organizational assets and support regulatory and accounting compliance. Oversee Accounts Receivable: Ensure timely and accurate management of billing, cash receipts, receivables aging, cash application, and merchant accounting, working with the Assistant Controller on day-to-day execution. Manage Disbursements and Payroll: Oversee accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash controls, payroll processing, and corporate payroll tax compliance. Manage International Accounting: Oversee accounting activities for international offices and entities, ensuring compliance with internal policies, U.S. GAAP requirements for currency translation, and applicable foreign tax obligations, including VAT. Maintain Financial Systems Integrity: Establish and monitor systems, procedures, and controls that ensure the reliability and accuracy of financial data and accounting processes. Drive Financial Technology Improvements: Lead financial system enhancements and implementations, collaborating with third-party providers and consultants, including those supporting NetSuite, Concur, and ADP, to develop project plans and ensure successful adoption. Oversee Audit Preparation: Direct the preparation and timely delivery of audit workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Perform quality assurance reviews of account reconciliations and interim financial information. Support Executive Decision-Making: Advise the CFO, CEO, and executive leadership team on accounting policies, financial reporting, and the application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Improve Financial Reporting Quality: Strengthen the accuracy, transparency, and consistency of accounting records, reconciliations, disclosures, and supporting documentation across the organization and its subsidiaries. Manage Fixed Asset Accounting: Oversee fixed asset reporting and coordinate the physical inventory process for fixed assets. Lead and Develop the Accounting Team: Mentor, coach, and develop employees through onboarding, training, goal setting, regular communication, and performance evaluations while supporting team engagement and morale. Support Strategic Priorities: Undertake additional responsibilities as needed to improve departmental effectiveness and contribute to broader organizational objectives. Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; a Master of Science or Master of Business Administration is preferred. Professional Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential preferred. Relevant Experience: At least 10 years of full-time experience in public accounting or industry. International Operations Experience: Demonstrated experience supporting organizations with international operations and managing accounting requirements across multiple jurisdictions. Remote Team Leadership: Experience managing remote teams and leading accounting professionals in distributed work environments. Technical Accounting Expertise: Exceptional accounting, analytical, and financial reporting skills, with a strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, reconciliations, audit requirements, and financial close processes. Financial Systems Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to meet financial close objectives. Experience with NetSuite is highly preferred; familiarity with platforms such as Concur and ADP is beneficial. Leadership and Staff Development: Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop accounting professionals, establish initiatives, set performance expectations, and manage outcomes. Strategic and Organizational Skills: Strong project management, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet critical deadlines. Professional Integrity: High ethical standards, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to accurate and reliable financial reporting. Communication and Collaboration: Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, management, clients, external auditors, and third-party service providers. Policy and Procedure Compliance: Willingness and ability to follow applicable regulations, organizational policies, work procedures, and instructions.
