DAAD scholarship for graduates applying from Malawi to pursue a master's/postgraduate qualification or eligible complementary study in architecture-related fields at a state or state-recognised German university. Applications close 23 September 2026.
Complete scholarship details
Funding normally runs for 10–24 months for a master's/postgraduate degree or one academic year for eligible complementary study. Current support includes EUR 992 per month, a travel allowance upon application, a one-off study allowance, and health, accident and personal-liability insurance contributions. Additional rent, family, disability-related, green-mobility and German-language support may be available depending on circumstances. DAAD states that tuition fees are not covered.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants need a first university degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Monument Conservation/Building in Existing Contexts, Urban Design/Urban Development, Landscape Architecture or Landscape Planning by the start of the funded programme. As a rule, the last relevant degree should not be older than six years at the application deadline, applicants who have resided in Germany for more than 15 months at the deadline are not eligible, and applicants must meet their chosen programme's language and admission requirements.
