• Q [Scholarship] Does GIST provide scholarships for international students?
A All international graduate students are granted GIST scholarship without any separate application process. Tuition fees are fully waived, and there are monthly allowances, research assistantship, health insurance, flight reimbursement(one-way flight to korea). However, one-time matriculation fee of 680,000 KRW is charged to all newly admitted students to be enrolled.

A Yes. All applicants are required to pay the designated application fee. A All applicants must apply for GIST through our Online Application System and the applicant can check their status on the same system. • Q [English Proficiency Test] I was taught in English and my country's official language is English. Can I get the exemption?
A If you completed your bachelor’s degree in English native speaking country (Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the USA ), you are available to apply to GIST without English Proficiency Test result.
Other than that, all applicants must submit an official English proficiency test score, such as TOEFL(IBT, PBT), IELTS, TOEIC, and TEPS. • Q [English Proficiency Test] I got 5.5 scores for IELTS, is it acceptable?
A No, applicants must meet minimum score requirements: TOEFL iBT 80, PBT 550 IELTS 6.5 TOEIC 750 NEW TEPS 285 • Q [English Proficiency Test] My TOEFL score has just expired, can I submit this report?
A No, English proficiency tests should be taken within two years prior to the online application deadline. If you submit the expired English test report, we consider it invalid. • Q [English Proficiency Test] I took TOEFL this month. Can I submit the result after the application deadline?
A We do not accept application documents after the deadline. • Q [English Proficiency Test] Is it impossible to apply if I do not have official English test scores?
A Applicants from countries that do not hold official English tests(TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC or TEPS) or other applicants for whom it is not possible to take such tests owing to unavoidable circumstances, such as schedule conflicts or excessive economic burden, may apply without official English test score as a conditional admission. Conditional admission requires applicants to submit documentation related to English proficiency issued by the President or the Dean of the last school attended. There is no specific form of the certificate of English language proficiency, but it must indicate that the medium of instruction was English.
Successful students admitted to GIST with conditional admission due to unavailability of official English test results must, within 6 months from the date of admission, submit official English test results that meet the application criteria of GIST.
We strongly encourage you to take an official English test and submit the score result when you apply to GIST graduate school. Some Embassies of the Republic of Korea may ask you to submit the official English test score for visa application. • Q [degree/transcipt] I am currently in my final semester, so I cannot yet submit my final diploma or the transcript including my final semester's results.
A If you are expected to graduate, you can replace your degree or diploma with a certificate of the expected graduation or an official letter from your university confirming your expected graduation.
This document must clearly state your full name, the degree to be conferred, and the exact date of conferment. If any of this information is missing, GIST will not accept the document as a valid replacement.
Furthermore, you should submit your official transcripts containing all grades earned up to the point of application. If admitted, you must submit your final official transcripts before the designated deadline or upon enrollment. • Q [degree/transcipt] Are both certificate of (expected) graduation and transcript in other languages acceptable?
A No, GIST only accepts documents written in English. • Q [degree/transcipt] I have only one original degree certificate. Should I submit this one?
A Submitted documents will not be returned in any case. Applicants can submit copies of diploma (or graduation certificate) and academic transcript when applying to GIST but once admitted, original should be submitted to the Admissions Office. Admission will be canceled if an applicant fails to submit original or certified documents. Document certification can be done by obtaining the seal of the issuing institution or visiting a notary office. • Q [degree/transcipt] Do I need to submit the Apostille for certificates of degree and transcripts of Bachelor and Master?
A If you are applying for a doctoral program, you must submit the apostille of degree certificates and the apostille of transcripts for your bachelor's and master's degrees both. • Q [degree/transcipt] Is it possible to make a copy of the diploma and a copy of the apostille without norization?
A You may submit a copy of the apostille when applying for admission. However, if you finally pass GIST, you will be asked to submit the original Apostille for verification of your final academic achievement. And you must also submit a transcript. • Q [degree/transcipt] Is the apostille submission mandatory?
A Yes, Apostille documents must be sent by post after acceptance is announced. However, if you are not a member of the Apostille, you can send your diploma and final transcripts that have been notarized by the Korean Consulate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country. • Q [Other Requirements] My parents and I do not have passports. What should I do?
A Applicants should prepare his/her passport and submit it before the application deadline. If you do not hold a valid passport, a copy of the Certificate of Nationality or national ID card(in English) can be submitted. • Q [Other Requirements] Are courses in GIST taught in Korean or in English?
A Over 90% of lectures are offered in English. • Q [Others] I want to know more about department. Where can I get the information?
