Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Migration Engineer based in Brazil. We are looking for a detail-oriented Data Migration Engineer to support the migration of healthcare data between Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and modern platforms. In this fully remote role, you will help ensure that sensitive clinical, operational, and administrative information is transferred accurately, securely, and in compliance with healthcare regulations. You will work with legacy databases, ETL processes, and healthcare systems to transform complex datasets into reliable, usable information. Collaborating with technical teams, clinical stakeholders, and external partners, you will help minimize disruption during system transitions. Your expertise will contribute to data quality, operational continuity, and successful product implementations. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who enjoys solving complex data challenges in a dynamic healthcare technology environment.
Develop and execute end-to-end data migration strategies for Radiology Information Systems (RIS), ensuring secure and accurate transfers from legacy platforms to modern solutions. Collaborate with customers, IT teams, clinical and administrative stakeholders, compliance officers, and third-party vendors to gather requirements and coordinate migration activities. Extract, assess, map, clean, transform, and prepare clinical, operational, and administrative data from legacy systems, including patient demographics, radiology reports, scanned documents, and future appointments. Build and maintain RIS master lists and reference tables, including referring physicians, insurance providers, procedure and billing codes, organizational structures, practices, sites, and rooms. Use ETL tools, SQL queries, and database management techniques to process data and resolve inconsistencies across different formats and systems. Work with MS SQL Server databases, including database schemas, triggers, functions, stored procedures, SQL Agent jobs, and ad hoc queries. Manipulate and convert data across formats such as CSV, Excel, SQL databases, Word documents, images, and PDFs, including parsing, renaming, moving, and cleaning files as required. Perform comprehensive data validation and post-migration verification to confirm data completeness, accuracy, consistency, and integrity. Troubleshoot migration issues, investigate system compatibility challenges, and implement corrective actions to maintain high data quality standards. Provide post-migration and go-live support, prepare detailed migration documentation and reports, and communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders. Train staff on accessing, managing, and using migrated data within the new RIS platform. Support ancillary migrations in Linux environments and enhance internal migration tools using appropriate programming languages and scripting techniques. Follow applicable healthcare privacy, confidentiality, security, safety, and compliance requirements throughout all migration activities. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. At least 3 years of proven data migration experience within a healthcare environment. Hands-on experience manipulating or migrating data across healthcare systems such as RIS, PACS, HIS, and EMR platforms. Strong understanding of ETL processes, relational database structures, SQL, and relevant healthcare data standards. Proficiency in MS SQL Server and Transact-SQL, including triggers, functions, stored procedures, database schema design, SQL Agent jobs, and ad hoc querying. Experience working with diverse data formats, including delimited text files, spreadsheets, SQL databases, Word documents, image files, and PDFs. Programming experience in C# for Windows desktop applications, Python, or a comparable language to develop or improve data migration tools. Familiarity with Linux operating systems and scripting tools or languages such as Python, Perl, Vim, and Bash. Experience with Mirth Connect, particularly HL7, is required. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to inspect large medical record datasets and identify data quality issues. Excellent technical communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at different organizational levels. Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy, patient privacy, security, and confidentiality. Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, manage competing priorities, work independently, and demonstrate initiative and sound time management. Willingness to work occasional off-hours to perform migrations during periods of lower system activity. Professionalism, integrity, reliability, and a commitment to following applicable healthcare regulations, workplace safety requirements, and organizational policies. Benefits: Fully remote work arrangement. Full-time employment opportunity. Opportunity to contribute to healthcare technology modernization and the secure migration of critical medical data. Professional exposure to healthcare information systems, database technologies, ETL processes, and data migration projects. Salary, healthcare coverage, paid leave, equipment provisions, and other specific benefits are not detailed in the source job description.
