Our partner is looking for a Database & Geographic Information System (GIS) Geologist, Special Projects based in Canada. This is a full-time opportunity focused on strengthening geological data management across exploration and development projects. You will oversee geological databases, GIS systems, spatial datasets, and digital workflows that support technical decision-making. The role combines hands-on data management, GIS analysis, quality assurance, and technical support across multiple projects. You will work closely with geologists, engineers, consultants, and corporate teams in a multidisciplinary environment. Your work will help ensure exploration data is accurate, secure, well-documented, and ready for technical evaluations and resource development. You will also contribute to due diligence, project reviews, technical studies, and continuous improvements to geological data systems. The position can be performed remotely from Canada or the United States, with a hybrid option available in Toronto.
Lead geological database and GIS management activities across exploration and development projects, maintaining drilling, sampling, assay, survey, geological, and spatial datasets with a strong focus on integrity, accessibility, security, and accuracy. Develop, maintain, and improve geological data workflows, standards, documentation, metadata, governance, version control, backup, and validation processes. Implement and maintain geological data QA/QC procedures aligned with NI 43-101 requirements and industry best practices, identifying inconsistencies, data gaps, and quality issues. Provide reliable geological and spatial data to support technical reporting, resource evaluation, project studies, due diligence, and other development initiatives. Perform GIS analysis and compile, integrate, visualize, and interpret geological and spatial information to support exploration and project decision-making. Prepare maps, figures, presentations, technical data packages, and other materials for internal and external stakeholders. Integrate historical and newly acquired exploration data into geological databases and GIS platforms while maintaining appropriate documentation and quality standards. Collaborate with geologists, engineers, consultants, and other technical professionals across multiple projects and jurisdictions, providing guidance on digital geological workflows and data management. Identify opportunities to improve data quality, system functionality, reporting efficiency, and technical workflows, and support the adoption of improved digital tools and technologies. Maintain high standards for safety, environmental responsibility, operational excellence, and data governance while supporting a growing portfolio of exploration and development activities. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Geology, GIS, Geomatics, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline, combined with at least 5 years of relevant experience in geological data management, GIS, mineral exploration, mining, or a related technical environment. Practical experience managing geological databases and GIS applications within mining or mineral exploration, with a strong understanding of drilling, sampling, assay, geological, and spatial datasets. Experience with geological data QA/QC, validation, documentation, and data governance, with familiarity with NI 43-101 technical reporting requirements and Canadian mineral exploration standards. Proficiency with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS, including spatial analysis, visualization, and professional map production. Experience with geological database platforms such as acQuire, MX Deposit, or comparable systems. Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases, or other data management technologies is an asset. Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to work efficiently with large and complex datasets. Experience supporting resource evaluation, technical studies, project reviews, or due diligence is an advantage. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, combined with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across geology, exploration, engineering, and corporate functions. A continuous-improvement mindset and the ability to prioritize competing requirements while working independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to periodically travel to project sites in the United States. Benefits Full-time position with the flexibility to work remotely from within Canada or the United States. Hybrid work option available at the corporate headquarters in Toronto, Ontario. Opportunity to contribute to exploration, development, technical evaluation, and corporate growth initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. Collaborative environment working alongside multidisciplinary geology, engineering, exploration, and corporate teams. Exposure to complex geological datasets, digital workflows, GIS analysis, technical studies, and project development activities. Opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement of geological data systems, standards, and technologies. Periodic travel to project sites in the United States. Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity throughout the hiring process.
