Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DevOps Engineer / Mid–Senior Level based in the United States. We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to lead enterprise-wide source control, release engineering, and CI/CD platform standardization in a mission-critical technology environment. In this role, you will shape the strategy for secure, scalable, and auditable software delivery while consolidating fragmented Git platforms into a unified enterprise foundation. You will design and maintain automated build, test, security, and deployment workflows, alongside shared platform services for container registries, object storage, and secrets management. Working closely with engineering, cybersecurity, IT, and platform teams, you will establish best practices that improve reliability, consistency, and developer productivity. This is a hands-on technical leadership opportunity for someone who combines deep platform expertise with strong governance and automation skills. The position is fully remote and supports technology initiatives where security, operational excellence, and mission impact are paramount.

Define and own the enterprise source control strategy, including platform architecture, governance standards, technical direction, and long-term roadmaps. Lead large-scale Git platform consolidation and repository migration initiatives, standardizing fragmented and legacy environments on approved enterprise platforms. Administer GitHub Enterprise Cloud and Server, GitLab SaaS and self-hosted environments, repository structures, access permissions, branch protection, and code review workflows. Integrate source control platforms with identity and access management systems, including Okta, Active Directory, single sign-on (SSO), and SCIM-based user provisioning and deprovisioning. Design, build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps Pipelines, and other relevant automation tools. Develop reusable pipeline templates and shared workflow libraries that enable standardized, automated builds, testing, security scanning, and deployments across development, staging, and production environments. Deploy and operate enterprise-wide container registry services, such as Harbor, to manage, scan, and distribute container images while consolidating team-specific solutions. Establish and maintain shared S3-compatible object storage services, such as MinIO, for build artifacts, test data, and engineering files. Own centralized secrets management platforms, such as HashiCorp Vault or equivalent solutions, providing secure and consistent secrets handling across pipelines, applications, and infrastructure automation. Define and enforce access controls, retention policies, backups, disaster recovery procedures, and operational standards for shared platform services. Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and related tools; create automation using Python, PowerShell, and Bash. Support Docker-based workflows and Kubernetes-enabled build and deployment pipelines. Partner with cybersecurity and compliance teams to implement audit logging, access reviews, compliance reporting, and security controls across source control and delivery platforms. Integrate static and dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST) and dependency scanning into CI/CD workflows. Monitor platform health, pipeline performance, infrastructure reliability, security events, and compute costs; implement proactive alerting and self-healing mechanisms where appropriate. Collaborate with engineering, data, IT, and platform teams to translate business and technical needs into scalable developer tooling solutions. Maintain technical documentation, platform standards, operational runbooks, and pipeline guidance; serve as a technical escalation point for Git and CI/CD issues. Participate in architecture reviews, sprint-based delivery, cross-functional planning, and roadmap development, with occasional after-hours support for maintenance, migrations, and incident response. Requirements: Hold and maintain an active Secret security clearance upon hire. Be a U.S. Person, defined for applicable export-control purposes as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under relevant U.S. law, and be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations. Have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Bring approximately 10–12 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, site reliability engineering, or a closely related discipline. Demonstrate hands-on enterprise-scale administration experience with both GitLab and GitHub, including platform configuration, repository management, access controls, and governance. Have substantial experience designing, implementing, and operating CI/CD pipelines across multiple teams, environments, and software delivery workflows. Possess strong knowledge of Git branching strategies, including trunk-based development and GitFlow, code review processes, repository governance, and enterprise platform management. Be proficient with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, and Azure DevOps Pipelines; experience with Jenkins or comparable legacy systems is beneficial. Have experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS commercial environments and GovCloud, and Microsoft Azure. Be skilled in infrastructure-as-code and automation using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Ansible, as well as scripting and programming with Python, PowerShell, and Bash. Understand containerization with Docker and have working knowledge of Kubernetes-based build and deployment workloads. Have experience with artifact management and container registry technologies, such as Harbor, GitHub Packages, GitLab Container Registry, or equivalent platforms. Bring experience deploying and administering S3-compatible object storage, such as MinIO, and centralized secrets management platforms, such as HashiCorp Vault or cloud-native alternatives. Understand identity and access management, including Okta, SSO, SCIM, and Active Directory, as well as security scanning and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent solutions. Have experience leading or significantly contributing to large-scale Git platform migration or consolidation initiatives; experience operating shared enterprise container registry, object storage, and secrets management services is strongly preferred. Communicate effectively with technical teams, security stakeholders, and organizational leadership. Demonstrate initiative, sound technical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to own enterprise-wide tooling and governance decisions. Work collaboratively across IT, engineering, security, and platform teams while treating infrastructure and pipeline configurations as production-grade, auditable assets. Preferred certifications include GitHub Actions Certification, GitHub Administration Certification, GitLab Certified CI/CD Associate, GitLab Certified Git Associate, HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert, and Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA). Be comfortable working remotely, participating in sprint-based delivery, and complying with applicable data-handling, security, and access-control policies. Benefits: Base salary: $160,000–$180,000 annually. Placement within the range depends on experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and excludes benefits and any bonus or incentive compensation. Flexible Time Off (FTO) to support rest, personal commitments, and work-life balance. Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families, with a significant portion of premiums covered and many employee benefits paid at 100%. 401(k) retirement plan with a 50% company match on contributions up to 8%. Flexible, affordable gym memberships with access to more than 12,700 nationwide fitness options, no long-term contracts, and free on-demand workout videos before enrollment. Wellness programs supporting physical and mental well-being. Additional voluntary benefits and employee support resources. The opportunity to work alongside a talented, cross-functional team in an innovative, mission-driven environment. Fully remote work within the United States, with occasional after-hours availability required for platform maintenance, migrations, or incident response.
