UNFPA is recruiting the D-1 Director of its Independent Evaluation Office in Nairobi to lead the organization's independent evaluation function, corporate evaluation plan, methodological standards, learning and international evaluation partnerships.

Full job description

The Director provides strategic leadership and overall management of UNFPA's Independent Evaluation Office, safeguards evaluation independence and credibility, leads multi-year evaluation planning and corporate evaluations, develops methodological guidance, strengthens evaluation capacity, supports organizational learning, advises senior management and represents UNFPA in international evaluation networks including UNEG. The appointment is a five-year fixed term renewable once, subject to UNFPA rules.

Requirements & qualifications

An advanced university degree in a relevant population-related field such as management, economics, public administration, population or demography, or social sciences is required. UNFPA requires at least 15 years of progressively responsible evaluation experience, at least eight years at international level, and at least five years managing and supervising professional staff. Fluency in English is required; French or another UN language is highly desirable.
