Location: Austin, TX Employment Type: Full-Time Department: Corporate Operations Reports To: CEO ABOUT THE ROLE Contoro Robotics is a Series B robotics startup building autonomous systems for demanding material-handling environments. Backed by marquee investors, Contoro has developed industry-leading payload capabilities and has deployments across the United States as we continue to scale our technology and commercial footprint. We are seeking a highly hands-on Director of Finance to build and lead Contoro’s finance function through its next stage of growth. This role combines strategic finance, accounting, capital strategy, business economics, fundraising, and corporate operations. You will partner directly with the CEO and leadership team while remaining comfortable getting into the details yourself. We are looking for a builder who can create structure where it does not yet exist, use technology and automation to scale efficiently, and develop the finance organization as the company grows. WHAT YOU’LL OWN STRATEGIC FINANCE & BUSINESS ECONOMICS

• Own budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, scenario analysis, and company-wide financial modeling.
• Build clear customer, deployment, site, and asset economics, including robot cost, margins, utilization, capital requirements, and ROI.
• Partner across Commercial, Manufacturing, Engineering, Deployment, and Operations to connect operating decisions to financial outcomes.
• Bring an ROI-oriented approach to spending, capital allocation, pricing, hiring, and other major business decisions. CAPITAL STRATEGY, CASH & FUNDRAISING
• Develop Contoro’s capital strategy across equity, venture debt, asset and equipment financing, working-capital facilities, and other financing alternatives.
• Own cash, runway, treasury, and working-capital planning, proactively identifying ways to improve liquidity and capital efficiency.
• Identify and pursue grants, tax credits, rebates, government incentives, and other non-dilutive funding opportunities, engaging external experts and advisors where appropriate.
• Support fundraising and financial diligence, including models, forecasts, data-room materials, Board and investor reporting, and direct engagement with investors, lenders, auditors, and advisors. ACCOUNTING, REPORTING & CONTROLS
• Own accurate, timely, GAAP-compliant financial reporting and monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
• Ensure appropriate accounting treatment across revenue recognition, leases, financing, fixed assets, inventory, capitalization, depreciation, accruals, stock compensation, and other material areas.
• Establish practical policies, documentation, and internal controls that keep Contoro audit-ready without unnecessary bureaucracy.
• Manage auditors, tax advisors, and technical accounting specialists while maintaining enough accounting depth to personally step into complex issues when needed. SYSTEMS, CORPORATE OPERATIONS & TEAM BUILD
• Own and improve the finance technology stack across accounting, banking, expense management, ERP, reporting, and related systems, using automation and AI wherever practical.
• Build reliable processes and data across finance and operations, determining what should be automated, outsourced, improved, or brought in-house.
• Oversee internal coordination of corporate operations, including legal matters, contracts, governance, insurance, payroll, benefits, and core People/HR administration, working with external specialists where appropriate.
• Operate initially as a hands-on leader within a lean structure, then build the finance organization across Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Strategic Finance, and Corporate Operations as the business scales. QUALIFICATIONS
• 8+ years of progressive finance experience with meaningful in-house operating experience.
• Experience operating in a startup, scale-up, or similarly fast-moving, resource-constrained environment.
• Strong strategic finance, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and U.S. GAAP capabilities.
• Experience in a capital-intensive business where asset economics, fixed assets, inventory, capital deployment, and ROI matter.
• Demonstrated ability to build financial processes, systems, models, or capabilities from scratch.
• Strong problem-solving ability when the data, process, or answer does not already exist.
• Strong technology orientation and willingness to use automation, AI, and modern finance systems to improve productivity.
• Comfortable moving between executive-level discussions and transaction-level detail, with a resourceful, low-ego operating style. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with venture-backed Series B/C startups or high-growth technology companies.
• Experience in robotics, hardware, manufacturing, logistics, or another operationally complex business.
• Experience with venture debt, equipment or asset financing, leasing, working-capital facilities, or other non-equity capital structures.
• Experience supporting fundraising, institutional diligence, and/or identifying grants, tax incentives, rebates, or other non-dilutive funding.
• Experience implementing or improving ERP, reporting, accounting, or finance automation systems.
• CPA or equivalent technical accounting background is a plus.
• Korean bilingual is a plus WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE The Director of Finance will build a reliable, scalable, and GAAP-compliant finance and corporate operations function capable of supporting Contoro through its next stage of growth. Success means:
