You will oversee core platforms, including NetSuite, procurement and spend management tools, and financial reporting solutions, while driving implementations and system improvements. A key part of the role will be shaping the use of AI in accounting, developing reliable automated workflows with appropriate permissions, human oversight, and auditability. Working closely with Accounting, FP&A, Financial Operations, Procurement, Product, Engineering, and Analytics, you will translate business needs into scalable technology solutions. This remote leadership opportunity combines finance systems expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and the chance to build robust controls that support sustainable growth.
As Director of Finance Systems, you will own the strategy, performance, and continuous improvement of the systems underpinning accounting and financial reporting. You will partner with finance and technology teams to deliver scalable workflows, introduce responsible automation, and maintain strong controls as the organization grows. Lead finance systems strategy: Own and evolve core financial platforms, including NetSuite, Ramp, Zip, FloQast, and revenue reporting tools, ensuring they meet current operational needs and support future growth. Manage system implementations: Lead new finance system launches, upgrades, and improvements from requirements gathering and solution design through testing, cutover, stabilization, and ongoing support. Accelerate financial close processes: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows, improve reporting efficiency, reduce manual work, and support a faster, more reliable close. Drive AI and automation initiatives: Define how accounting teams develop and deploy AI agents and automated workflows, including their operating environments, integration with NetSuite, and safeguards for accuracy, permissions, human review, and audit logging. Establish financial systems controls: Design, implement, and maintain IT general controls (ITGCs), including user access management, change management, and system operations controls, to support audit readiness and reliable financial reporting. Oversee ERP configuration and reporting: Govern the chart of accounts and develop or maintain NetSuite reports, saved searches, and related financial reporting capabilities. Build cross-functional partnerships: Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Financial Operations, Procurement, Engineering, Product, and Analytics to translate business requirements into effective system workflows and integrations. Coordinate integrations and technical delivery: Work with technical teams to ensure financial systems connect reliably with other business applications and that Finance requirements are incorporated into development projects from the outset. Strengthen governance and reliability: Evaluate system risks, improve documentation, and establish scalable processes that maintain data integrity, security, and auditability. Communicate technical decisions: Explain system architecture, implementation plans, risks, and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Support continuous improvement: Identify emerging technologies and opportunities to improve financial operations through better systems, process design, and responsible AI adoption. Requirements: The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in finance systems, ERP administration, and accounting technology, combining hands-on technical expertise with the ability to lead implementations and collaborate across business and engineering teams. You should be comfortable managing financial controls, improving workflows, and communicating complex technical considerations to a broad range of stakeholders. At least 10 years of experience in finance systems, accounting systems, or ERP administration, including hands-on ownership of NetSuite in a growing organization. Experience leading at least one finance system implementation or post-launch stabilization, covering requirements, testing, cutover, and ongoing support. Hands-on experience designing, implementing, or maintaining IT general controls for financial reporting systems, including user access, change management, and system operations in an audit-ready environment. Experience governing a chart of accounts and developing reports or saved searches in NetSuite or a comparable ERP platform. Proven ability to work with Accounting, Procurement, Engineering, or Product teams to translate business requirements into system workflows and integrations. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical systems, risks, and trade-offs clearly to non-technical colleagues. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple system initiatives and deliver reliable outcomes. Preferred qualifications: Experience building or deploying AI agents or automated workflows in finance or accounting, including permissions, human review, and audit logging. Experience implementing or administering procurement and spend management platforms such as Zip, Coupa, or Ramp.
