Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Production based in the United States. The Director of Production will lead end-to-end production for photography, video, and content across brand campaigns, performance marketing, social media, e-commerce, and retail. This senior individual contributor role offers the opportunity to build and shape a production function from the ground up, establishing scalable processes and operational standards. You will oversee production budgets, schedules, external partners, and shoot execution while ensuring creative excellence and efficient resource allocation. Working closely with in-house creative teams and cross-functional stakeholders, you will translate concepts into high-quality assets that support business objectives. You will develop a trusted network of production professionals, optimize workflows, and explore innovative tools, including AI-assisted production solutions. The role also requires strong attention to talent rights, production compliance, safety, and regulatory considerations. This is an opportunity to combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership in a collaborative, fast-paced, and creatively driven remote environment.
Lead end-to-end production for photography, video, and content shoots across brand, performance marketing, social, e-commerce, and retail channels. Manage projects from initial brief and scoping through competitive bidding, pre-production, on-set execution, post-production, and final asset delivery. Serve as producer on key productions and ensure every project has the appropriate production leadership and resources. Develop and manage the annual production budget and individual project budgets, track actual spending, and report financial performance to senior creative leadership. Build and maintain a network of production companies, agencies, directors, photographers, editors, post-production partners, and freelance crews. Lead vendor selection, competitive bids, rate negotiations, contracts, and cost management while maintaining high creative standards. Partner with Legal and Procurement on statements of work, vendor agreements, and payment processes. Design and maintain a production calendar that balances business priorities, creative needs, deadlines, and team capacity. Establish repeatable production workflows, templates, best practices, approval processes, production books, call sheets, and delivery specifications. Identify efficiencies through multi-channel shoots, modular content systems, and potential in-house studio capabilities. Evaluate and adopt production and post-production tools, including AI-assisted solutions, to improve quality, speed, and efficiency. Manage talent, model, and influencer usage rights, releases, renewals, and asset usage records. Ensure compliance with applicable union requirements, including SAG-AFTRA where relevant, location permits, insurance requirements, and on-set safety standards. Collaborate with Legal and Regulatory teams to ensure claims, testimonials, and before-and-after imagery meet applicable health and wellness standards. Oversee asset organization, labeling, and storage within the digital asset management system to ensure content remains accessible and usable across the organization. Partner with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Designers, Copywriters, Brand teams, Growth, Social, E-commerce, Retail, and Product Marketing to align production plans with creative and business needs. Bring production feasibility, costs, timelines, and resource considerations into discussions early in the creative development process. Requirements: 10+ years of production experience, including at least 3 years in a senior producer, head of production, or director-level role. Experience working within an in-house brand team, creative agency, production company, or a combination of these environments. Demonstrated success producing large-scale photography and video campaigns alongside high-volume content for performance marketing and social channels. Proven ability to manage multimillion-dollar annual production budgets, control project costs, and communicate financial performance clearly. An established network of production partners, crew, and talent, with the judgment to select the right collaborators for each project. Working knowledge of talent contracts, usage rights, union requirements, production insurance, and related production compliance considerations. Experience creating production systems, processes, and operating models from the ground up. Strong organizational, planning, negotiation, and vendor-management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines. Clear, composed communication skills and the ability to work effectively with creative teams, executives, and external partners, including when plans change during production. Ability to lead through influence, build strong working relationships, and deliver results without direct reports. Familiarity with project management and digital asset management tools such as Airtable, Asana, Monday.com, Bynder, or Frame.io is an advantage. Experience in beauty, wellness, consumer packaged goods, or another regulated industry is a plus, particularly where claims and before-and-after imagery require legal review. Experience establishing or managing an in-house studio and growing a production team over time is desirable. Benefits: Annual base salary of $160,000–$170,000 USD . Fully remote work experience within the United States. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, including flexible spending account (FSA) and health savings account (HSA) programs. 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
