Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Professional Services Group based in the United States. As Director of the Professional Services Group, you will lead consulting engagements and oversee strategic client relationships within the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry. You will serve as a trusted advisor to insurance carriers and Managing General Agents (MGAs), helping them navigate complex product, regulatory, and operational challenges. Your primary focus will be defining engagement scope, establishing quality standards, and ensuring every project delivers measurable business value. Working closely with sales and operations teams, you will translate client needs into clearly defined deliverables while balancing commercial objectives and delivery capabilities. You will also contribute to the growth of a developing consulting practice by strengthening methodologies, improving service offerings, and mentoring professionals. This fully remote leadership opportunity combines deep insurance expertise, executive-level client engagement, and strategic practice development. You will play a pivotal role in shaping service excellence, expanding client partnerships, and driving sustainable growth within a technology-enabled consulting environment.

Engagement scoping and business development Lead discovery sessions and scope new consulting opportunities, defining client requirements, project deliverables, assumptions, and expected outcomes. Represent the Professional Services Group in reviews of complex or nonstandard engagements, ensuring commitments are commercially viable and operationally achievable. Manage changes to project scope in collaboration with sales and operations teams, addressing pricing, resource availability, delivery timelines, and client expectations. Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and develop additional services that address evolving client needs. Client leadership and relationship management Serve as the primary consulting contact and trusted advisor for a portfolio of strategic client accounts, including major insurance carriers and MGAs. Lead value-focused renewal discussions, strengthen executive relationships, and identify opportunities for long-term account growth. Ensure consulting engagements deliver measurable value and align with client objectives, business priorities, and agreed-upon outcomes. Communicate recommendations, manage expectations, and constructively challenge senior stakeholders when necessary to achieve the best results. Quality assurance and continuous improvement Conduct quality reviews of large-scale and first-time engagements before deliverables are presented to clients. Establish, maintain, and improve quality standards, review checklists, and engagement guidelines across recurring consulting services. Capture lessons learned from completed projects and implement improvements that enhance consistency, efficiency, and client satisfaction. Ensure engagement requirements and deliverable expectations are clearly documented before work is assigned to execution teams. Operational partnership and practice development Provide operations teams with clearly scoped project requirements, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria to support effective execution. Collaborate on resource planning, staffing decisions for key accounts, project health monitoring, and delivery expectations. Develop and refine consulting methodologies, playbooks, frameworks, and reusable resources to improve service delivery and scalability. Identify opportunities to standardize or productize services, helping expand the practice's capabilities and commercial potential. Mentor consultants in P&C insurance expertise, client advisory skills, and professional consulting practices. Contribute to the development of the growing consulting organization and support future team leadership needs. Requirements: At least 10 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, including a minimum of five years leading client-facing consulting engagements. Deep knowledge of the insurance product lifecycle, including product development, regulatory compliance, and state insurance filings. Demonstrated success in scoping complex consulting engagements, defining deliverables, managing assumptions, and controlling scope throughout project delivery. Strong executive presence and the credibility to advise senior client stakeholders, communicate complex issues clearly, and challenge decisions constructively when appropriate. Proven ability to establish quality standards, drive consistent execution, and achieve results through collaboration and leadership rather than relying solely on direct involvement. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage senior relationships, facilitate discovery discussions, and present recommendations effectively. Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and measurable client outcomes. Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, client accounts, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously in a consulting or professional services environment. Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance client satisfaction, engagement profitability, delivery capacity, and business growth. A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to work effectively across sales, operations, and consulting teams. Preferred: Experience working for a consulting firm, insurance carrier, or MGA serving multiple insurance lines. Preferred: Familiarity with technology-enabled services, software platforms, and technology implementation projects within the insurance industry. Preferred: Experience developing consulting methodologies, delivery playbooks, quality assurance programs, or scalable service offerings. Preferred: Experience in people management, along with an interest in developing and leading a team as the practice expands. The ability to work independently in a fully remote environment, exercise sound judgment, and travel occasionally for client meetings and company events. Benefits: Competitive annual base salary: $120,000–$150,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and skills. Performance-based compensation: Additional bonus potential and profit-sharing opportunities. Comprehensive health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance. Retirement planning: Access to 401(k) retirement plan options. Flexible paid time off: A generous PTO policy designed to support personal well-being and work-life balance. Fully remote work: Flexibility to work remotely from within the United States. Professional growth: Opportunities to shape a growing consulting practice, develop service offerings, and influence strategic business decisions. Leadership opportunities: The potential to expand into people management as the Professional Services Group grows. Collaborative culture: Work alongside experienced professionals and a leadership team focused on innovation, quality, and sustainable revenue growth. Meaningful client impact: Help insurance carriers and MGAs solve complex challenges through specialized consulting expertise and technology-enabled services. Established industry presence: Join a respected insurance advisory environment with more than 30 years of industry experience and a strong focus on long-term client partnerships.
