We are seeking a qualified Occupational Safety Engineer to support safety, health, and environmental management across complex oil and gas operations. In this role, you will help ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen risk prevention practices, and promote safe working conditions across operational sites and projects. You will contribute to risk assessments, audits, inspections, incident reporting, and the development of technical documentation and safety performance indicators. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and management, you will support continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of occupational safety standards. The position combines remote work with occasional offshore or site assignments, offering opportunities to contribute directly to operational safety and risk management. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled professional who values collaboration, precision, and a proactive approach to workplace safety.

Prepare, review, and consolidate occupational safety, health, and environmental (SMS) reports, technical opinions, internal procedures, management documents, control spreadsheets, action plans, and supporting studies. Support compliance with applicable SMS requirements, including monitoring legal obligations, regulatory standards, and other subscribed requirements. Conduct and support occupational and operational risk assessments, including Preliminary Risk Analysis (APR), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), Management of Change processes, and other risk management activities. Advise management teams and operational departments on occupational safety matters, providing technical guidance and recommendations to improve safety performance. Monitor compliance with SMS requirements among contractors and service providers, tracking corrective actions and ensuring the timely resolution of identified gaps. Coordinate and monitor action plans through computerized SMS management systems, ensuring accurate records, effective follow-up, and proper documentation of progress. Support Procedure Compliance Verification (VCP) activities, including employee training, awareness initiatives, and the monitoring of adherence to established operational procedures. Plan and coordinate safety inspections, including annual schedules, inspection checklists, communication with assessed departments, and follow-up on outstanding findings from previous inspections. Conduct or support audits and inspections by collecting and analyzing evidence, consolidating findings, monitoring corrective actions, and preparing reports for relevant management teams. Manage Operational Safety Documentation (DSO), reviewing technical materials, coordinating comments, tracking documentation status, and supporting compliance with operational requirements. Maintain records of SMS aspects and impacts, and prepare annual incident reports, preventive data reports, and other consolidated safety performance analyses. Develop, update, and critically review SMS indicators, databases, and management reports to identify trends, support decision-making, and improve operational safety. Support SMS reporting for new projects and developments, coordinating contributions from occupational safety, environmental, and health specialists while tracking project requirements, schedules, and deliverables. Assist with occupational risk management under Brazil's Risk Management Program (PGR), in accordance with Regulatory Standard NR-1. Support Occupational Hygiene and Ergonomics (HOE) activities and the management of gas detection equipment, including risk assessments, technical specifications, procurement, maintenance, calibration, training, inventory, and replenishment. Assist with the accreditation and ongoing maintenance of gas detector calibration laboratories in accordance with applicable INMETRO requirements. Support personal protective equipment (PPE/EPI) management, including inventory control, distribution, replenishment, electronic records, employee acknowledgments, and documentation. Support audits of Work Permits (PT), Internal Accident Prevention Commissions (CIPA), and other occupational safety processes. Prepare technical drawings using AutoCAD or similar software when required for safety engineering activities. Develop and deliver SMS training sessions, presentations, and awareness campaigns, including onboarding safety briefings, safety guidelines, Golden Rules, safety alerts, and toolbox talks. Configure, update, and operate computerized safety management systems and databases, extracting information, maintaining records, monitoring indicators, and providing requested reports. Support the coordination and scheduling of occasional offshore or site assignments, including travel and personnel mobilization arrangements where applicable. Perform other occupational safety engineering activities necessary to support safe, compliant, and efficient operations. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering in any specialization, complemented by a postgraduate qualification in Occupational Safety Engineering. Professional experience in occupational safety engineering within the oil and gas industry. Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, applicable Brazilian Regulatory Standards (NRs), and integrated management system standards, including ISO 45001. Understanding of occupational risk assessment, hazard identification, incident prevention, safety inspections, audits, and corrective and preventive action management. Familiarity with occupational risk management programs, including the requirements of Brazil's PGR under NR-1. Experience preparing technical reports, safety procedures, management documentation, performance indicators, and compliance records. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, for data analysis, documentation, and reporting. Ability to work with computerized management systems, safety databases, and performance monitoring tools. Knowledge of occupational hygiene, ergonomics, gas detection equipment, personal protective equipment management, and work permit auditing is valuable for the role. Familiarity with risk analysis methodologies such as APR and HAZOP, Management of Change, and operational safety documentation is an advantage. Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar technical drawing software is beneficial. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical documentation and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and contractors. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining effective communication, accurate documentation, and consistent follow-through. Availability for occasional offshore or site assignments as required by operational needs.
