Overview
The 2026 EU4Belarus SALT call offers 3–6 month fellowships at eligible EU higher-education or research institutions for qualifying Belarusian lecturers, scientists, independent researchers and current PhD students affected by repression linked to the post-August 2020 political situation.

Individual fellowship grants range from EUR 5,580 for a three-month action to EUR 11,160 for a six-month action. Supported activity may include academic exchange, course or curriculum development, teaching, research, archive or field work, international research collaboration, and unpaid internships at eligible EU institutions. Fellowships may start from 1 January 2027 and must finish by 11 August 2027. Conference-only activity, degree-study or training-course scholarships, overlapping EU-funded fellowships and other exclusions listed in the call are not eligible.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be natural persons and citizens of Belarus. They must reside in an EU Member State, a Schengen Area member, the United Kingdom, or one of the listed Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova or Ukraine); applicants living outside Belarus must have left Belarus no earlier than August 2020. Eligible professional profiles include current or former lecturers, scientists or researchers at higher-education or research institutions, independent researchers, and current PhD students. Applicants must demonstrate qualifying threats, persecution, repression or politically related dismissal affecting themselves or an immediate family member, be directly responsible for the action, and provide an invitation covering the fellowship period from an eligible EU higher-education institution or research centre.
