Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Event and Sponsorship Research Coordinator based in Canada. Join a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting international students with welcoming host families and fostering meaningful cultural exchange. As an Event and Sponsorship Research Coordinator, you will identify and evaluate events, community initiatives, and sponsorship opportunities across Canada. Your research and recommendations will help guide strategic marketing investments, strengthen community partnerships, and maximize organizational impact. Working remotely, you will assess opportunities based on audience relevance, geographic priorities, costs, and alignment with organizational values. You will collaborate with event organizers and internal teams to gather insights, maintain opportunity pipelines, and support effective planning. This permanent, part-time role offers the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while applying your research, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
Research event and sponsorship opportunities: Identify relevant events, community initiatives, charitable projects, and potential sponsorships across Canada, considering both opportunities involving staff attendance and sponsorships without an on-site organizational presence. Evaluate and prioritize opportunities: Apply established evaluation criteria and scoring frameworks to assess audience demographics, geographic relevance, event purpose, expected reach, costs, organizational alignment, potential impact, and overall value for money. Develop evidence-based recommendations: Recommend whether opportunities should be pursued, sponsored, monitored, or declined, providing clear reasoning supported by reliable research and relevant data. Engage with organizers and partners: Communicate with event organizers to gather and verify information, pricing, sponsorship packages, participation requirements, and deadlines. Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, charitable groups, and nonprofit partners. Manage event planning pipelines: Maintain a national event and sponsorship calendar, track opportunities and decision deadlines, and ensure approved engagements are secured with sufficient lead time. Coordinate internal communication: Share expectations, timelines, costs, and participation requirements with colleagues responsible for executing approved events and sponsorships. Monitor outcomes and improve future decisions: Track investment costs, decisions, available performance indicators, and lessons learned to identify trends and strengthen future event and sponsorship strategies. Identify strategic partnerships: Explore opportunities to develop meaningful collaborations beyond traditional event participation, supporting broader organizational priorities and community engagement goals. Support ongoing program needs: Contribute to additional responsibilities as required to support effective coordination and continuous improvement. Requirements Bilingual communication skills: Fluency in both English and French is mandatory, with strong written and verbal communication abilities for engaging with diverse stakeholders. Research and analytical capabilities: Ability to gather information from multiple sources, assess its accuracy and reliability, compare opportunities objectively, and translate findings into actionable recommendations. Relationship-building skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence communicating with event organizers, community groups, external partners, and internal teams. Organizational and project management skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple opportunities, competing priorities, follow-ups, and deadlines simultaneously. Critical thinking and sound judgment: Ability to evaluate opportunities against established criteria, make informed decisions when information is incomplete, solve problems, and adapt to changing priorities. Data management and performance tracking: Comfort working with data, maintaining accurate records, tracking results, and identifying trends and insights that inform future planning. Technical proficiency: Working knowledge of standard office and communication tools, along with the ability to learn and use internal systems, calendars, databases, and tracking platforms effectively. Relevant industry knowledge: Familiarity with marketing, sponsorship, event coordination, community engagement, or partnership development is an asset. Cultural and regional awareness: Knowledge of Canada's diverse communities and an appreciation of regional and cultural differences when assessing events and partnership opportunities is an advantage. Professional approach: A proactive, curious, dependable, and collaborative mindset, with the ability to work independently in a fully remote environment. Benefits Compensation: CAD $18–$23 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Employment type: Permanent, part-time position with a workload of up to 15 hours per week. Work arrangement: Fully remote, offering flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada. Meaningful impact: Contribute to a nonprofit mission that supports international students and creates enriching cultural experiences through homestay connections. National scope: Explore event and sponsorship opportunities across Canada and help shape strategic community engagement initiatives. Professional development: Build experience in market research, sponsorship evaluation, partnership development, event strategy, and performance analysis. Collaborative environment: Work with colleagues and community partners committed to cultural exchange, inclusion, and meaningful relationships.
