Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Events Manager based in Canada. As an Events Manager, you will shape and execute an international events strategy that strengthens brand visibility, engages developer and enterprise audiences, and generates measurable business opportunities. You will identify the most valuable industry conferences and sponsorships while managing flagship events across the United States and Europe. Working closely with Marketing, Sales, Developer Relations, Product, and Engineering teams, you will turn event participation into meaningful connections and qualified pipeline. You will oversee event planning, speaker coordination, registrations, logistics, budgets, and vendor relationships from start to finish. Using CRM data and performance reporting, you will assess results, optimize investments, and recommend which initiatives deserve continued support. This remote opportunity suits a proactive events professional who combines strategic judgment, operational excellence, and a strong focus on commercial impact.

You will own the event lifecycle, from selecting the right opportunities and building an effective calendar to delivering high-quality experiences and measuring their business contribution. Your work will connect technical communities with commercial objectives while ensuring events are well organized, cost-effective, and aligned with company priorities. Event strategy and planning: Research where developer, data, and enterprise audiences gather, assess competitor participation, and recommend which events to sponsor, attend, or skip. Prepare data-backed go/no-go recommendations for the Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Revenue Officer. Event calendar management: Track submission deadlines, sponsorship opportunities, pricing tiers, early-bird windows, and other critical milestones across the event calendar. Speaking opportunities: Identify relevant speaking opportunities and coordinate call-for-proposals (CFP) submissions with Developer Relations, Product, Engineering, and senior leadership. Track submission outcomes and support speaker preparation. Flagship event management: Lead the planning and execution of major US and EMEA editions of Extract Summit, overseeing venues, schedules, speaker logistics, on-site delivery, and overall event coordination. Registration and attendance growth: Collaborate with Revenue Marketing, Content, and Developer Relations to drive registrations, monitor progress against targets, and implement initiatives to improve attendance. External event logistics: Coordinate team attendance, brief participants, appoint on-site event leads, and manage booths, shipping, promotional materials, and reusable vendor resources. Budget and vendor management: Develop and monitor the events budget within approved limits, flag potential overruns early, and negotiate vendor agreements and sponsorship terms. Lead capture and sales handoff: Manage event lead collection and ensure qualified leads are transferred to Sales within agreed timelines. Performance measurement: Use HubSpot, Salesforce, and other relevant reporting tools to track leads, cost per opportunity, and sourced and influenced pipeline. Stakeholder reporting: Regularly communicate event calendars, spending, and performance insights to Marketing and Sales leadership, recommending which activities to repeat, improve, or discontinue. Requirements: The ideal candidate has hands-on experience running events for technical audiences and understands how to evaluate event investments based on both engagement and commercial outcomes. You should be comfortable working across international teams, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and balancing strategic decision-making with practical execution. Demonstrated experience managing events for developer, data, or technology audiences in both the United States and Europe. Experience evaluating conferences and sponsorship opportunities using data, including identifying underperforming events and recommending when to discontinue investment. A track record of driving event registrations, supported by measurable results and clear performance metrics. Direct experience negotiating vendor agreements and sponsorship contracts. Experience reporting event performance against pipeline targets using a CRM, ideally HubSpot and Salesforce. Strong collaboration skills, particularly when working with Sales and technical teams responsible for representing the organization at events. Excellent project management, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability and willingness to travel for flagship events and selected external conferences each year, as required. A proactive, analytical, and commercially minded approach, with the ability to manage budgets, deadlines, and multiple stakeholders effectively. Nice to have: Experience working in web scraping, data extraction, or API-first technology environments. Established relationships with organizers in Python and data-focused communities. Experience managing speaker programs and coordinating call-for-proposals submissions. Benefits: Fully remote working environment, with the flexibility to work from the location where you perform best. 35 days of paid holidays. Opportunity to join a self-motivated, progressive, and multicultural international team. Opportunities to attend industry conferences and connect with colleagues across the globe. Exposure to cutting-edge open-source technologies and tools. The opportunity to shape an international events strategy and contribute directly to marketing performance and revenue growth.
