Expression of Interest – Academic Counsellors for GOAL’s Programme

Opportunity Details

The Guyana Academy of Online Learning (GOAL) is an entity established and funded by the Government of Guyana. Its purpose is to provide citizens in all regions of the country with access to affordable, high quality education and ensure equality of opportunity in the pursuit of education through the open and distance learning (ODL) mode. In order to achieve its purpose, GOAL has formed strategic partnerships with several universities, all of which have demonstrated exceptional track records of quality and effectiveness in the area of open and distance learning.

The Academy is therefore seeking to recruit part-time Academic Counsellors in all the education districts of Guyana. The counsellors are expected to conduct tutorial sessions; formulate and mark assignments; advise and counsel students throughout the period of their studies. The academic counsellors are also expected to be committed to the learner-oriented approach and to be advocates of the system.

In the coming academic year (August 2021 to June 2022), academic counsellors with qualifications and expertise in the following areas of study will be required:

Below are the minimum qualifications for each programme:

— Programmes — Minimum Qualifications

— Post Graduate Diplomas — A Masters Degree in related fields plus ten (10) years’ experience in the respective field.

— Bachelor’s Degrees — A Masters Degree in related fields plus five (5) years’ experience in the respective field.

— Undergraduate Diplomas

— Undergraduate Certificates — A related Bachelors Degree plus five (5) years’ experience in the respective field.
