ABOUT THE ROLE Join an early-stage fintech team building backend systems for financial integrations, workflow orchestration, and ledger foundations. You will work closely with founders and customers to prototype solutions, shape product direction, and deliver reliable systems that support financial operations. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design, build, and operate production backend services and public APIs for clients and partners.
- Build and maintain integrations with financial systems, banks, and other external data sources.
- Develop ETL pipelines with data quality controls, validation, and reconciliation logic.
- Establish observability and operational practices, including logging, metrics, alerts, incident response, and on-call readiness.
- Collaborate with founders and customers to identify problems, prototype quickly, measure impact, and decide what to build or discontinue.
- Apply LLMs pragmatically in production when they can deliver measurable value, with appropriate guardrails.
- Document architecture, testing standards, and security practices to improve engineering quality. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 5 years of backend engineering experience delivering and owning production systems end to end.
- Strong experience with OLTP systems, relational data modeling, REST APIs, and consistency and availability trade-offs.
- Experience integrating complex external APIs, including authentication, rate limits, retries, and webhooks. Financial or ERP integrations are a plus.
- Comfort working with unstructured data such as PDFs, XML, and email, and extracting and normalizing information from it.
- Practical cloud and DevOps skills, including AWS or GCP, Docker, CI/CD, logging, and monitoring.
- Experience with ETL and data quality controls; familiarity with ledgers, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and reconciliation is beneficial.
- Familiarity with event-driven systems such as Kafka or SQS, workflow engines such as Temporal, Airflow, or Prefect, and production LLM deployments is useful.
- Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, customer collaboration, and documenting technical decisions. Fintech or B2B SaaS experience and prior founding-engineer experience are beneficial. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary range: $45,000 to $80,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available. LOCATION On-site in Brazil.
