Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an FPGA Digital Design Engineer based in Canada. As an FPGA Digital Design Engineer, you will contribute to the development of advanced digital hardware solutions supporting innovative communications technologies. You will work on FPGA-based systems, helping transform complex technical requirements into reliable, high-performance digital designs. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to engineering projects that combine digital logic design, hardware development, and system-level integration. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop, validate, and optimize solutions that meet demanding performance and reliability standards. Your work will support the evolution of sophisticated communication systems in a technically challenging and innovation-driven environment. This opportunity is well suited to an engineer who enjoys solving complex hardware problems, exploring new technologies, and contributing to the development of next-generation digital systems. The position is offered on a remote basis, with location options in Canada and the United States.
Design, develop, and implement FPGA-based digital systems in line with functional, performance, and reliability requirements. Translate system-level specifications into digital hardware architectures and efficient FPGA implementations. Develop and maintain digital logic designs, ensuring code quality, design consistency, and adherence to engineering standards. Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, and other engineering teams to integrate FPGA designs into broader communication platforms. Support design verification, simulation, testing, and debugging activities to identify and resolve functional or performance issues. Analyze timing, resource utilization, and design performance to optimize FPGA implementations and meet system requirements. Troubleshoot hardware and digital logic issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective solutions throughout the development lifecycle. Contribute to system integration, validation, and verification activities to ensure designs operate reliably under expected conditions. Maintain technical documentation covering design specifications, implementation decisions, verification results, and system behavior. Participate in engineering reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design quality and development efficiency. Work closely with cross-functional teams to support project milestones, resolve technical challenges, and deliver robust digital hardware solutions. Requirements Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Relevant professional experience in FPGA development, digital design, or digital hardware engineering. Strong understanding of digital logic design principles, synchronous systems, digital architectures, and hardware implementation methodologies. Experience with FPGA design tools and workflows, including synthesis, simulation, timing analysis, implementation, and debugging. Familiarity with hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog/SystemVerilog. Understanding of FPGA architecture, timing constraints, clock-domain crossing, resource utilization, and design optimization. Experience with digital design verification, simulation, and hardware testing methodologies. Ability to analyze complex technical problems, identify root causes, and develop reliable engineering solutions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality designs. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams. Ability to manage priorities, contribute to technical discussions, and work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues. Adaptability and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and contributing to the development of advanced communication systems.
