Overview
FRQ's 2027–28 B3 postdoctoral scholarships provide C$45,000 per year for 6 months to 2 years, with a base maximum of C$90,000.
Complete scholarship details
The B3 program supports newly graduated doctoral researchers across natural sciences and engineering, health, social sciences, humanities, arts and letters. The base award is C$45,000 per year for a period of six months to two years. Eligible recipients whose host environment is outside Quebec can receive an additional C$10,000 per year under the program's conditions, plus certain travel-cost reimbursements.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants generally must have obtained a research doctorate less than two years before the competition deadline or plan the initial thesis submission by 1 March 2028, subject to specified exception measures. Canadian citizens/permanent residents with valid Quebec health-insurance status may use the award under broader mobility rules. Other candidates can remain eligible if required supervisor consent/acceptance documents are provided, but must conduct the postdoctoral fellowship in Quebec. The supervisory environment normally must differ from the institution that awarded or co-supervised the doctorate.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Verified on FRQ's current 2027–2028 B3 pages. They confirm C$45,000/year for 6 months to 2 years, up to C$90,000 base funding, a possible C$10,000/year supplement for eligible hosts outside Quebec, the 8 October 2026 16:00 EST deadline, FRQnet application and doctorate/mobility eligibility rules. Machine deadline is null because the official source says EST during a period when Quebec normally observes daylight time. No repository record or commit match was found before creation.
