Overview

Complete research opportunity details
Applications are accepted across fields and degree levels. Applicants are responsible for securing an educational or research affiliation in Lesotho; an affiliation letter is strongly recommended but not required at the national deadline. The grant provides a host-country cost-of-living stipend, international travel benefits, accident and sickness health benefits, mental-health support and federal non-competitive eligibility. The official page currently estimates a USD 2,200 monthly stipend and USD 3,550 in one-time allowances, both subject to change. Affiliation fees or tuition are not covered.
Eligibility requirements
The U.S. Student Program is for U.S. citizens. Current U.S. undergraduate or graduate students apply through their institution. Non-enrolled U.S. citizens must hold a bachelor’s degree by the award start date and must not hold a PhD; they should generally have relatively limited professional experience. The Lesotho award accepts candidates at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree levels. English is the primary language; Sesotho may be needed for some rural research.
Tips for this research opportunity
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Match your research background to the project, laboratory, supervisor and required methods rather than applying only from the title.
- Prepare a focused academic CV, transcripts, publications and research statement or proposal when requested by the official call.
- Confirm funding duration, stipend/salary, tuition coverage, start date and eligibility for international applicants.
- Contact a supervisor before applying only when the official instructions recommend or require it.
Verification notes
Verified on the current Fulbright Lesotho award page. The national deadline is October 6, 2026 at 5 p.m. Eastern Time; on that date Eastern Time is UTC−4, so it is normalized to 21:00 UTC. Stipend and one-time allowance amounts are explicitly marked by Fulbright as estimates subject to change.
Job and Scholarship is the discovery and verification layer. Confirm eligibility, dates, salary/funding and application instructions on the original source before submitting anything.
