The grant supports a short-term U.S. research period connected to a doctoral degree that remains based at a Greek institution. Research may begin as early as 1 September 2027 and must finish by 31 May 2028. A mandatory registration step closes 15 October 2026 at 23:59 EET, followed by the final online application deadline on 15 November 2026 at 23:59 EET.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be Greek citizens or hold a Greek passport; U.S./Greek dual citizens are ineligible. They must hold B.A./M.A. degrees from recognized institutions in Greece, have at least a 7.0/10 B.A. GPA, be officially enrolled as a PhD candidate at a Greek higher-education institution, and have completed one to four years of research at application time. The PhD supervisor must endorse the U.S. research. Applicants must permanently reside in Greece, have excellent English, return to Greece to complete the dissertation, and obtain an official invitation from a U.S. university or research center.
