Job Description

Government Security Officer - Tokyo, Japan

What you'll build

You'll lead government security and national security compliance activities across SAP Japan, helping the business operate in highly regulated environments. You will monitor relevant Japanese legislation and regulatory developments - including areas of national security, defence industrial security, critical information infrastructure, specified essential infrastructure services, and telecommunications security - assess business impacts, and support the implementation of compliance requirements where applicable. Working closely with colleagues across Legal, Government Affairs, Security, Sales, and Delivery, you'll build and maintain trusted relationships with government stakeholders, regulators, customers, and industry partners.

You'll act as a trusted advisor on government security matters, providing guidance on regulatory requirements, risk assessment, and compliance obligations. You'll support customer engagements involving national security considerations, including in support of Japan's digital sovereignty strategy and sovereign cloud capabilities, contribute to deal approval risk assessments, and help strengthen SAP's ability to serve customers in regulated industries.

In addition to your Japan responsibilities, you will support the GS2 APAC team by monitoring South Korean GS2-relevant legislation and regulation, and act as the principal point of contact on GS2 matters for SAP Korea colleagues. You will also identify opportunities to improve processes, governance, and operational efficiency across SAP's government security activities.

Where you belong

Experience in areas such as defence industrial security, critical infrastructure, telecommunications, cybersecurity, project management, or policy development would be advantageous. A solid understanding of the global technology sector and cloud computing is also desirable. Relevant undergraduate, postgraduate, or professional qualifications -particularly in fields such as national security, cyber security, risk management, business management, or project management - are highly regarded.

Japanese citizenship and the ability to meet any future government security clearance requirements associated with the role are required. This role involves travel within Japan and across the APAC region, particularly South Korea, with an expected travel requirement of 10-20%.
