Overview

A 12-month scholarship and research-development programme for high-achieving bachelor’s and first-year master’s students enrolled at Portuguese higher education institutions.

Complete scholarship details

The programme supports early engagement with research across biology, geology, physics, mathematics, chemistry, humanities, arts and social sciences. The annual package includes €1,000 for research and study, up to €1,500 for approved talent-development activities, and an additional €2,000 social-support component for applicants meeting the stated household-income test. The scholarship normally runs from November 2026 to November 2027 and includes mentoring and mandatory scientific retreats.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be enrolled in 2026/27 in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of a bachelor’s or integrated master’s programme, or the 1st year of a master’s, at a higher education institution in Portugal, with a bachelor-level average of at least 16.5/20. Foreign students may apply if enrolled in Portugal and able to participate in Portuguese; international exchange students are not eligible. The extra €2,000 social-support component requires annual per-capita household income not above €14,000 and proof of application for a DGES social-support grant.

Tips for this scholarship

Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.

  1. Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
  2. Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
  3. Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
  4. Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.

Verification notes
