Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Marketing based in the United States. We are seeking a strategic, hands-on marketing leader to drive the next phase of growth for an innovative AI-powered platform transforming how government organizations collaborate and deliver essential services. In this role, you will own the marketing strategy across brand, positioning, product marketing, demand generation, and field marketing. You will work closely with the CEO, founders, Sales, Product, and customer-facing teams to turn complex technology into a compelling market story. Leading a lean, talented team, you will balance strategic leadership with direct execution, from shaping campaigns and thought leadership to supporting high-value accounts and industry events. You will help establish a distinctive market category at the intersection of government operations, collaboration, and AI. This is an opportunity to build a scalable marketing function, influence company strategy, and contribute to technology that helps public servants address critical community challenges.

Brand strategy and positioning: Own the brand narrative and market positioning, translating a complex product and emerging category into a clear, differentiated, and compelling value proposition. Product marketing and storytelling: Transform customer success stories, product developments, and measurable outcomes into impactful campaigns, thought leadership, content, product launches, and sales enablement materials. Growth strategy and demand generation: Partner with the growth marketing lead to identify priority audiences, channels, campaigns, and investments that generate qualified pipeline and support broader go-to-market objectives. Field marketing and events: Develop a differentiated field marketing strategy encompassing conferences, roundtables, executive dinners, partnerships, and other relationship-building opportunities that support account growth. Sales partnership and strategic accounts: Collaborate with Sales to refine messaging, support strategic opportunities, develop account-based campaigns, strengthen sales enablement, and help open, close, and expand government relationships. Category development and thought leadership: Build market awareness and credibility through public relations, partnerships, creative campaigns, and thought leadership that establish a strong voice in modern government operations and AI. Marketing team leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the marketing team, set clear priorities, empower functional owners, and identify the people, processes, and capabilities needed as the organization scales. Performance measurement and optimization: Analyze campaign performance and pipeline contribution, identify effective channels and activities, and translate marketing insights into repeatable growth strategies. Hands-on marketing execution: Contribute directly to copywriting, editing, campaign development, presentation creation, event planning, marketing operations, and strategic account support when needed. Cross-functional alignment: Work closely with company leadership and teams across Sales, Product, and customer-facing functions to ensure marketing priorities align with customer needs and business objectives. AI-enabled marketing innovation: Incorporate AI tools, automation, analytics, and emerging technologies into marketing workflows to improve efficiency, accelerate experimentation, and increase the impact of a lean team. Marketing organization development: Establish processes, priorities, and operating practices that support rapid execution, continuous learning, and sustainable growth in an evolving market. Requirements Marketing leadership experience: At least eight years of marketing experience at high-growth companies, ideally including early-stage or growth-stage B2B software businesses. Brand and positioning expertise: Demonstrated ability to clarify complex products, differentiate a company in an emerging market, and evolve brand messaging as products and customer needs develop. Product marketing and storytelling: Strong experience translating customer insights and product capabilities into compelling messaging, launches, campaigns, content, and sales materials. B2B growth and pipeline generation: Deep understanding of demand generation and enterprise marketing, including account-based marketing, field marketing, events, partnerships, and pipeline development in relationship-driven markets. Sales and go-to-market collaboration: Experience partnering closely with Sales on strategic accounts, messaging, sales enablement, and campaigns that support customer acquisition and expansion. Hands-on execution: Willingness and ability to contribute directly to marketing deliverables, analyze campaign performance, work with marketing automation platforms such as HubSpot, develop presentations, and support events and account-level initiatives. People leadership and team development: Ability to set direction for talented functional specialists, coach and develop team members, encourage ownership, and build a high-performing marketing organization. Strategic thinking and operational discipline: Strong judgment in prioritizing marketing investments, connecting marketing activities to business outcomes, and building repeatable processes that scale. Cross-functional communication: Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with executive leadership, Product, Sales, and customer-facing teams. Startup adaptability: Comfort operating with a lean team, navigating ambiguity, making decisions with incomplete information, moving quickly, and creating structure while executing. AI fluency and experimentation: Active use of AI tools and a strong interest in applying AI, automation, analytics, and emerging technologies to improve marketing effectiveness and team productivity. Ownership and initiative: A proactive, resourceful approach, with the ability to identify opportunities, test ideas, learn from results, and take responsibility for outcomes. Benefits Competitive compensation: A competitive salary package, with the specific salary range not disclosed in the original posting. Equity participation: Meaningful equity opportunities, offering the potential to share in the company's growth. Health benefits: Health benefits as part of the overall employee compensation package. Flexible work arrangements: Remote work flexibility and arrangements designed to support individual working styles. Strategic ownership: Direct collaboration with founders and senior leadership, with significant influence over brand strategy, market positioning, and company growth. Established foundation: An existing, talented, lean marketing team, providing an opportunity to shape the function's future rather than build everything from scratch. Strong marketing resources: Access to customer success stories, proof points, market momentum, and a product addressing urgent, real-world challenges. Category-building opportunity: The chance to help define an emerging market at the intersection of government operations, collaboration, and artificial intelligence. Autonomy and experimentation: The freedom to develop ambitious ideas, launch campaigns, test approaches, and refine the marketing organization as the company grows. Meaningful impact: The opportunity to support technology that helps public servants tackle important community challenges, including housing access for veterans and emergency preparedness.
