Scholarship criteria
Scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit and the quality of the scholarship application.
You need to accept your course offer before applying for this scholarship.
University of Nottingham scholarships are typically awarded as tuition fee reductions and will not be paid directly to students.
Where applicants are offered multiple University scholarships, only the highest-value award will be applied.
This scholarship is available to self-funded students only. Students sponsored by external organisations (e.g. government, employer, or other funding bodies) are not eligible.
Expectations of scholarship recipients
Recipients of the Hong Kong Alumni Scholarship are expected to:
provide at least one update per year for donor reporting purposes
contribute quotes, testimonials, and photographs to support scholarship promotion
support the University in engaging with alumni and potential donors where appropriate
Further information
In some cases, students are eligible to apply for more than one University of Nottingham award. Very occasionally students may be offered the Hong Kong Alumni Scholarship alongside another scholarship eg from their Academic School, or a Sporting award. To maximise the reach of University's Scholarships offering, we aim not to double award.
Our international scholarships cannot be combined with other University scholarships. Where you are awarded multiple scholarships, the single highest-value award will be applied.
International scholarships are available to self-funded students only. If you are sponsored by an external funding body, e.g. government, business, employer, trust or charity, you are not eligible to apply.
If you are awarded this scholarship, it will be deducted from the tuition fees charged to you as a student at the University of Nottingham. We will not pay tuition fee scholarships to you directly.

Tips for this scholarship
Practical JobOpportunity guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Extracted from a public opportunity page using specific title, application/deadline, eligibility and benefit signals. Aggregator/news pages remain review-controlled unless an official provider page is successfully verified.
JobOpportunity is the discovery and verification layer. Confirm eligibility, dates, salary/funding and application instructions on the original source before submitting anything.
