These International Scholarship Terms and Conditions govern the award and receipt of the following scholarships offered by the University of Nottingham (the “University”):

• International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship

• International Postgraduate Masters Scholarship

• Hong Kong Alumni Scholarship

• Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship

• GREAT Scholarships

• China and Malaysia Alumni Scholarship

By accepting a scholarship, the recipient agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions. Please read these terms and conditions carefully and ensure that you understand and adhere to the terms and conditions. Please note that you will also be subject to the University's separate Terms and Conditions in relation to the delivery of your course.

The University of Nottingham reserves the right to withdraw your scholarship and require repayment in full where:

(a) you are subsequently found to be ineligible for the scholarship;

(b) you do not adhere to these terms and conditions in full;

(c) you commit academic or conduct offences resulting in exclusion from the University; or

(d) you are found to have provided inaccurate, misleading, or fraudulent information as part of your scholarship application.

The University also reserves the right to amend its scholarship provision without notice.

You must:

• Accept the scholarship by the given deadline (where required) by responding to the award notification. Failure to accept within the specified deadline may result in the scholarship being withdrawn or awarded to an alternative candidate.

• Meet the conditions attached to your academic offer (if it is a conditional offer).

• Join your academic course at the given start date and before the registration deadline.

• Be registered as a full-time, self-funded student and be classified as overseas for fee purposes (excluding UoN Ukraine Scholars at Risk Scholarship).

• Inform the funding team of any other scholarships or sponsorship currently held or awarded once you have accepted your scholarship. The scholarship may be adjusted or withdrawn if other sources of funding have been awarded.

• Seek permission and obtain consent from the funding team at scholarship-assistant@nottingham.ac.uk before making any changes to your programme of study - this includes course transfers or suspending studies. Please note that approval is not guaranteed. Where changes are made without prior approval, the scholarship may be withdrawn, and you may be required to repay the scholarship amount in full.

• Pay all outstanding tuition fees by University deadlines if you have not been awarded a full scholarship, as detailed on our tuition fees webpages. Non-payment of fees will result in the scholarship being withdrawn and you becoming liable for the full tuition fee for your course.

• Repay the scholarship amount on a pro-rata basis if you withdraw from your course before completion. The amount to be repaid shall be calculated by reference to the proportion of the total course remaining at the date of your withdrawal. Any such repayment shall be due within 30 days of the date of withdrawal.

You acknowledge and agree that:

• The scholarship is subject to your satisfactory academic progress on your course, and adhering to University regulations, policies and procedures

• To participate, if requested, in publicity activities relating to the scholarship, including but not limited to providing a student profile or testimonial, attending scholarship or recruitment events, social media campaigns, press features, contributing towards website content, and other marketing materials. You may withdraw your consent at any time to participate in any such publicity activities relating to the scholarship.

• The University may contact you during the period approximately two years after your graduation for an update on how the scholarship has influenced your career. Your data will also be passed to our Alumni Team who retain data in support of your lifelong relationship with the University (see Alumni Privacy information). For queries or to remove your data from the Alumni database please contact alumnienquiries@nottingham.ac.uk.

• The scholarship is for tuition fees only and cannot be used in relation to cost of living or other associated costs related to the course.

• The scholarship is non-transferable and may not be assigned to any other person.

• You shall not, directly or indirectly, offer, give, request, or accept any bribe, facilitation payment, or any other improper advantage in connection with the scholarship and you must comply with the Bribery Act 2010.

• You must declare any personal relationships or conflicts of interest. The University will take appropriate steps to manage or remove any such conflicts.

Our scholarship offer

Undergraduate scholarships are only offered for the first year of study. Master’s scholarships are awarded for one year only. Other scholarships vary so please check the individual scholarship pages for further details. Scholarships are not automatically extendable if you extend your studies.

Scholarships are awarded based on the information provided in your online scholarship application, where a formal application is required. Where your scholarship is automatic this is based on your academic application to the University.

International scholarships are available to self-funded students only. If you are sponsored by an external funding body, e.g. government, business, employer, trust or charity, you are not eligible to apply (with the exception of our Developing Solutions Scholarship).

International scholarships cannot be combined with other competitive University scholarships. Where you are awarded multiple scholarships, the single highest-value award will be applied, and you will not be eligible to receive any additional scholarships. We reserve the right to withdraw an international scholarship, where students are in receipt of multiple awards.

Tuition fee scholarships will be deducted from the tuition fees charged to you as a student at the University, split across your payment instalments. We will not pay tuition fee scholarships to you directly and the scholarship amount shall be deducted from your invoice. No cash alternatives are available if the total funding you have been awarded is in excess of the tuition fee.

Scholarships cannot be deferred to the following academic year, even if your academic offer is deferred. There is no guarantee that we will offer the same scholarships each year, or that you will be offered a scholarship again after reapplying.

Should you be required to retake modules or your course, whether related to academic failure or interruption, you will be required to cover the additional costs associated with such retakes and these will not be covered by your scholarship. Once you have progressed to the next term or level, the scholarship will be reinstated. For further information on fees, please see our tuition fees webpages.

Decisions in relation to scholarships will be based on the content and quality of your application against the scholarship criteria available on each individual scholarship webpage.

The University’s independent panel will assess applications against these criteria.

The University's decision relating to the award of international scholarships is final.

Co-funded scholarships

Where a scholarship is co-funded with an external organisation or donor, we will pass on your details (name, title of award, course title, academic school) to the external organisation for the purpose of selection and reporting in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
