ICGEB and South Africa's Department of Science, Technology and Innovation are offering three-year PhD fellowships for South African women researchers in biotechnology at ICGEB Cape Town starting in early 2027.

Doctoral projects must fall within ICGEB Cape Town research areas including infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, bioinformatics, plant systems biology or virology. Eligibility requirements
Female applicants who are South African citizens or South African permanent residents with a valid South African ID may apply. Preference is given to Black and disabled applicants. A mandatory endorsement from an ICGEB Cape Town Group Leader is required, and candidates must provide proof of an MSc degree before the fellowship begins.
