Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Inside Channel Systems Engineer based in the United States. Help channel partners strengthen their networking expertise and grow their technical sales capabilities in a remote, partner-focused engineering role. You will serve as a technical advisor across enterprise networking, including switching, wireless, routing, security, and AI-driven networking solutions. Working primarily with partners on the West Coast, you will provide presales guidance throughout the sales lifecycle, from technical discovery and solution design to demonstrations and proofs of concept. You will empower smaller resellers to qualify opportunities, build accurate configurations, and confidently position solutions for their customers. Through virtual training, workshops, webinars, and reusable technical resources, you will help partners become more independent and successful. You will collaborate with channel sales teams, distributors, and product specialists to accelerate opportunities and expand partner capabilities. This remote opportunity offers ongoing technical development, exposure to a broad networking portfolio, and a pathway toward future field engineering or technical sales leadership roles.

Develop the technical competency, sales readiness, and business potential of smaller channel partners, helping them build the skills needed to independently position and deliver networking solutions. Provide remote presales technical support throughout the opportunity lifecycle, including discovery, qualification, architecture, product selection, solution sizing, and configuration. Help partners evaluate opportunities early, prioritize deals with strong potential, and focus their efforts on opportunities they can successfully win. Review solution architectures, bills of materials, configurations, and technical proposals to ensure accuracy and alignment with customer requirements. Teach partners to create their own bills of materials, configurations, and reference designs so they can size, specify, and quote solutions confidently. Answer partner questions regarding product SKUs, licensing, and ordering, and coordinate access to remote demonstrations and laboratory environments. Deliver webinars, technical demonstrations, workshops, virtual office hours, and other scalable enablement sessions. Support customer presentations, product demonstrations, and proofs of concept while helping partners communicate technical value and competitive differentiation. Identify partner capability gaps and recommend appropriate training, technical resources, and certification pathways. Develop reusable reference architectures, technical documentation, best practices, and other resources that improve partner effectiveness. Connect partners with distribution channels and internal technical resources when additional expertise or support is required. Collaborate with Partner Account Managers to plan enablement activities, prioritize partner engagement, and advance sales opportunities. Help partners engage technical assistance teams and escalate complex issues when additional support is needed to progress a deal or resolve a deployment challenge. Identify high-potential partners for deeper development and investment, helping them generate pipeline and grow their networking practices. Lead partner development initiatives, technical enablement programs, and opportunity-focused projects in collaboration with channel sales, distribution, product specialists, and other internal teams. Apply subject-matter expertise and independent judgment to resolve common and moderately complex technical challenges, assess customer requirements, and recommend appropriate solutions or alternatives. Stay current with networking products, industry developments, AI-driven operations, network automation, and cloud-managed networking technologies. Engage partners primarily through phone, video, webinars, digital collaboration, and other remote programs to provide scalable support across a broad partner community. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. At least 3 years of networking systems engineering experience, ideally in presales, sales engineering, technical enablement, or a partner-facing role. Hands-on experience designing, deploying, or supporting enterprise campus, branch, and data center networks. Experience in network deployment, professional services, or technical enablement is highly valuable, particularly for implementation engineers transitioning into presales. Experience working with channel partners, resellers, or distributors, with an understanding of channel sales models and partner go-to-market strategies. Experience supporting partners serving commercial and SLED (state, local, and education) customers is preferred. Demonstrated ability to conduct technical discovery, develop solution architectures, and deliver product demonstrations or proofs of concept. Confidence presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences, from network engineers and IT directors to sales professionals and business owners. Networking and technical skills: Solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, including VLANs, spanning tree, link aggregation, OSPF, and BGP. Enterprise wireless design experience, including radio frequency fundamentals, site surveys, roaming, and Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, and Wi-Fi 7. Working knowledge of routing, SD-WAN, and branch connectivity. Understanding of network security and access control, including 802.1X, RADIUS, network access control (NAC), segmentation, and firewall concepts. Familiarity with SASE, zero-trust security, cloud-managed networking, and AI-driven network operations platforms. Experience with platforms such as HPE Aruba Networking Central or Juniper Mist is beneficial. Familiarity with Aruba and Juniper switching, wireless, routing, and SD-WAN portfolios is a strong advantage. Exposure to data center networking fabrics, including EVPN-VXLAN, is a plus. Basic scripting or automation experience with Python, REST APIs, or Ansible is desirable. Ability to size networking solutions, create accurate bills of materials, and produce clear, usable technical design documentation. Certifications: Industry networking certifications are preferred. Candidates who do not yet hold relevant certifications should be willing to obtain them within their first year. Preferred certifications include HPE Aruba Networking Associate level or higher, Juniper Networks JNCIA or higher, Cisco CCNA or higher, and CWNA or CWDP for wireless. A security certification, such as CompTIA Security+, is an additional advantage. Professional competencies: A strong partner-first mindset, with a genuine interest in helping partners build confidence, capability, and independence. Excellent teaching and enablement skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and adapt explanations to different audiences. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging and effective virtual presentations. Commercial awareness and the ability to connect technical recommendations with customer outcomes and partner business goals. Self-motivation, accountability, and effective time management when working remotely across multiple partners and competing priorities. Sound judgment in resolving technical problems and knowing when to involve specialists or distribution partners. Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills across channel sales, distribution, product teams, and technical stakeholders. Competitive awareness and the ability to communicate solution strengths accurately and credibly. A commitment to continuous learning in a rapidly evolving networking technology landscape. Benefits: Annual on-target compensation: $125,000–$294,000 USD for eligible locations, including Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. Compensation includes a base salary and target-level sales incentives, with a 75% base salary and 25% variable compensation mix at 100% sales-plan attainment. Actual compensation depends on geographic location, professional experience, education, training, and relevant skills. Comprehensive employee benefits supporting physical, financial, and emotional well-being, with details available through the employer’s benefits enrollment resources. Access to ongoing technical training, professional development, and industry certification opportunities. Remote/teleworker work arrangement, primarily working from home. Exposure to a broad enterprise networking portfolio spanning switching, wireless, routing, security, and AI-driven networking. Opportunities to develop presales expertise and pursue future career progression into field Systems Engineering or other technical sales roles. An inclusive working environment that values diverse backgrounds, collaboration, flexibility, and professional growth.
