Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Java Developer – GraphQL based in the United States. Join a technology team building scalable, cloud-native applications and modern API-driven services. As a Java Developer specializing in GraphQL, you will contribute to the design and development of robust microservices and efficient data integration solutions. You will collaborate with product management, project management, business, and user experience teams to translate requirements into high-level technical designs. Working across modern web technologies and cloud infrastructure, you will help deliver reliable, maintainable, and high-performing software. This role requires strong analytical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple development priorities simultaneously. It offers the opportunity to contribute to complex technology projects in a fully remote, collaborative environment.

You will contribute to the technical discovery, architecture, and implementation of API-driven applications, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements. Your responsibilities will include: Lead discovery activities for medium- to large-scale projects and develop high-level technical designs in collaboration with product management, project management, business, and user experience teams. Obtain cross-functional approvals and ensure proposed technical solutions align with project objectives and stakeholder requirements. Design, develop, and maintain RESTful microservices and GraphQL-based APIs. Contribute to API architecture, development, management, and integration, including GraphQL Federation where applicable. Build and support application components using JavaScript, Node.js, and React. Work with cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure, to develop and support scalable application solutions. Implement and maintain cloud-native solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. Integrate third-party libraries and APIs to extend application functionality and improve system interoperability. Understand user interface technology stacks, requirements, and limitations to support effective collaboration between frontend and backend development. Create functional charts and technical documentation to communicate designs, workflows, and requirements clearly. Manage multiple features and technical requirements concurrently while maintaining quality and meeting project deadlines. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot technical challenges, resolve issues, and continuously improve application performance and reliability. Requirements: The ideal candidate combines extensive software development experience with strong API engineering knowledge, cloud technology expertise, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment. The key qualifications include: More than seven years of relevant experience in software development and leading discovery or high-level design activities for medium- to large-scale projects. Strong experience with JavaScript, Node.js, and React. Proven expertise in building RESTful microservices and designing, developing, and managing APIs. Experience with GraphQL APIs and GraphQL-based microservices; familiarity with GraphQL Federation is preferred. Experience working with cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure. Knowledge of cloud-native development practices and tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience integrating and working with third-party libraries and APIs. Understanding of frontend technology stacks, user interface requirements, and technical constraints. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop functional charts and explain technical concepts. Ability to manage competing priorities, work across several requirements and features simultaneously, and respond effectively to changing needs. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, combined with the independence to identify problems and develop solutions proactively. A strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering reliable technical solutions. Benefits: Work arrangement: 100% remote. Contract duration: Initial contract of six months or longer. Project exposure: Opportunity to contribute to medium- to large-scale software development projects involving modern APIs and cloud-native technologies. Technical development: Hands-on work with GraphQL, microservices, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices. Collaborative environment: Work with cross-functional teams spanning product, project management, business, and user experience. Compensation and additional benefits: Salary or hourly rate, healthcare coverage, paid time off, and other benefits were not specified in the provided job description.
