The first FY2027 Short-term (PE) open call closes on 25 September 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Japan Standard Time. Financial support published by JSPS includes a round-trip air ticket, overseas travel insurance, a monthly maintenance allowance of JPY 362,000 for PhD holders or JPY 200,000 for non-PhD holders at the fellowship start, and a JPY 200,000 settling-in allowance for fellowships of three months or longer when applicable. A research support allowance of up to JPY 70,000 multiplied by the number of fellowship months may be requested by the host researcher. Host institutions may set an earlier internal deadline.
