Eligible applicants worldwide can receive up to three years of Stanford graduate funding, including tuition and fees, living and academic support, and an annual travel stipend. Knight-Hennessy Scholars is a university-wide graduate scholarship and leadership program at Stanford. Applicants submit a KHS application and, in most cases, a separate application to an eligible full-time Stanford graduate degree. KHS funding for the first three years includes tuition and associated fees, a stipend for living and academic expenses, and a travel stipend for one annual economy-class trip to and from Stanford. Newly enrolling scholars also receive a one-time relocation stipend, and second- and third-year scholars may apply for supplemental academic-enrichment funding. Funding after year three for longer programs follows the applicable Stanford program's standard commitment.
Eligibility requirements
Citizens and residents of all countries may apply. For the 2027 cohort, applicants must meet Stanford graduate-program admission requirements and fit an eligible KHS/Stanford enrollment pathway. The first bachelor's degree or equivalent must normally have been earned in January 2020 or later; applicants with qualifying military service receive a two-year extension to January 2018. Current college students are eligible if they will complete their first degree by September 2027.
