Overview
Stanford University's Knight-Hennessy Scholars program is accepting applications worldwide for the 2027 cohort, with graduate-study funding and leadership programming.
Complete scholarship details
The Knight-Hennessy Scholars application closes October 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time (20:00 UTC). Scholars receive up to three years of funding: a fellowship applied to tuition and associated fees, a stipend for living and academic expenses, and a travel stipend intended to cover one annual economy-class trip to and from Stanford. Newly enrolling scholars also receive a one-time relocation stipend. Applicants must separately apply to an eligible full-time Stanford graduate degree program; for programs whose normal deadline is after December 1, 2026, the Stanford degree application must be submitted by December 1, 2026 to remain eligible for KHS.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants from all countries may apply. For the 2027 cohort, applicants generally must have earned their first bachelor's degree or equivalent in January 2020 or later; applicants who served in the military receive a two-year extension and may have earned it in January 2018 or later. Current students are eligible if they will earn their first degree by September 2027. Applicants must also apply to, be admitted by, and enroll in an eligible full-time Stanford graduate degree program, subject to the current-program exceptions for certain deferred admits and first-year Stanford PhD students.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Verified from current Stanford Knight-Hennessy admission, eligibility, application-deadline, application-requirements and funding pages. The current official pages consistently state October 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time for the KHS application; this is normalized to 20:00 UTC. No universal cash stipend amount is stated, so none is invented.
