Overview Apply your clinical expertise to the intersection of healthcare and legal services as a Legal Nurse Consultant. In this role, you will support attorneys by analyzing medical records, evaluating injury-related cases, and providing objective, evidence-based medical insights. You will help clarify complex clinical information, establish medical timelines, and assess long-term care needs and associated costs. Working independently in a fully remote environment, you will contribute to informed legal decision-making through accurate documentation, medical research, and professional communication. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse with specialized legal nurse consulting credentials and a strong commitment to accuracy, integrity, and professional standards. The position offers flexible, part-time contract work on an as-needed basis.

Medical Record Review: Analyze, review, and summarize medical records, highlighting relevant clinical findings, treatment history, injuries, and other essential details for attorneys and relevant stakeholders. Long-Term Care Assessment: Evaluate injured individuals' potential future medical needs and estimate the costs associated with ongoing treatment, rehabilitation, and other necessary care. Objective Case Evaluation: Provide impartial, evidence-based assessments of medical information, maintaining professional integrity and distinguishing documented facts from clinical interpretations. Medical Research: Identify, research, and reference relevant medical literature, professional guidelines, and other authoritative clinical resources to support case evaluations. Expert Coordination: Identify and, when appropriate, interview qualified medical professionals who may provide additional expertise or testify in legal proceedings. Professional Communication: Communicate findings, recommendations, and case-related information clearly and professionally in written and verbal interactions with attorneys, internal teams, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. Clinical Standards and Compliance: Perform all consulting activities within the scope of Registered Nurse practice, maintaining confidentiality and appropriate handling of sensitive medical information. Independent Case Management: Organize assigned work, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate, efficient, and high-quality consulting services. Additional Responsibilities: Complete other related duties as assigned, consistent with professional qualifications and the requirements of each case. Requirements Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school. Professional Experience: At least five years of experience in a similar or related role is preferred. Nursing License: Hold a valid, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license appropriate to the relevant state. Required Certification: Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) certification is required. Preferred Training: Medical-legal coursework or additional education related to legal nurse consulting is an advantage. Clinical Expertise: Demonstrate strong nursing knowledge and the ability to interpret medical records, understand clinical terminology, evaluate treatment plans, and assess injury-related medical information. Medical-Legal Analysis: Ability to organize complex medical documentation, identify clinically relevant facts, prepare accurate chronologies, and support objective case assessments. Research Skills: Ability to locate, evaluate, and reference relevant medical literature and professional resources. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex clinical information clearly to nonclinical audiences. Interpersonal Skills: Strong professional judgment and the ability to interact effectively with attorneys, healthcare professionals, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Organization and Accuracy: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to produce precise work within demanding deadlines. Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using computers and standard office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. Familiarity with CaseMap is preferred but not required. Independent Work: Ability to manage assignments with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and remain productive in a time-sensitive environment. Contractor Requirements: Willingness to work on an as-needed, part-time basis as an independent contractor and provide proof of professional liability insurance. Remote Work Requirements: Ability to maintain a secure, HIPAA-compliant home office and a reliable DSL, fiber, or cable internet connection. Internet speeds of 100 Mbps or higher are preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit and perform keyboard-based work for most of the workday, demonstrate manual dexterity, participate in telephone conversations as needed, read and write English fluently, and lift up to 20 pounds. Benefits Competitive Hourly Compensation: $40–$45 per hour, depending on experience and certifications. Remote Work: Perform consulting assignments from a home-based work environment within the United States. Flexible, Part-Time Engagement: Work on an as-needed basis, offering flexibility in managing consulting assignments. Independent Contractor Arrangement: Opportunity to provide specialized medical-legal consulting services on a contract basis.
